frodo playing recording, it played without artifacts, very nice: http://pastebin.com/MdaFiknf
frodo playing recording over samba (as if local file), no artifacts very nice: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=42279

alpha coming up...

should have specified, first is live tv recording playback, second is video file playback

alpha playing livetv with artifacts/errors: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=42282
alpha playing livetv recording just fine, looks perfect: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=42285

I assume you probably dont need the video playback at this point.

this my not mean anything, but I noticed that the truncation errors truncate to an odd size in all but 4-5 errors

Just as a small update from a chat with foshka:
Increasing the pvr buffer time in the advanced settings seems to have NO impact and still causes stuttering.
Code:
<pvr>
<minvideocachelevel>20</minvideocachelevel>
<minaudiocachelevel>20</minaudiocachelevel>
</pvr>

------
The issue described in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=167959 looks similar.
@foshka: Does pausing for a couple of seconds make it any better?
