Thanks to JM62 with help for setting up WebGrab. But I still had problems getting vbox to accept the XML file. IE would just say incorrect file (either via browsing for the file or directly entering the path. Firefox would spin the wheel of eternity, never stopping, never timing out. And Chrome wouldn't get anywhere. After much swearing and some smashed crockery, it occurred to me what the problem was. The epg file was in a folder called TV Listings. I changed it to TVListings and hey presto it was accepted.
