RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Alzer - 2012-10-02 I just found the solution to the Youtube/iOS 6/AirPlay. Just play the Youtube-videos from Safari or Google Chrome while having AirPlay enabled and it automatically plays the videos on XBMC. More info here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=141100 RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-10-02 @Alzer, thank you for the hint!!! @kmfdm515, I forgot to ask you: are you on XBMC Eden (11) or XBMC Frodo (12) prealpha? With the prealpha the things change day by day. Only with the current stable, v11, I can say that one minute seems too long according to my tests. This weekend I will do some tests to see how it takes to retrieve 5.000 albums. RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - kmfdm515 - 2012-10-02 i'm on Eden. i'm thinking it might not be my music db size, since selecting 'Pictures' in your app kills the connection to XBMC altogether after a minute. just doesn't seem to be working very well with my system..not sure why. I will try to find the defective one.and thanks to you for your investigations! If you find the offending nfo don't forget to tell me where was the issue, so I can fix the app! Hi, I believe I found the nfo that caused the problem. And the reason seems to be quite simple. It's the umlauts/mutated vowels. I have an nfo for a documentary about Greenland, which is Grönland in German. After I replaced the title in the nfo everything worked! This app is simply awesome. One thing though (and this might have been reported already), after some time/usage the next chapter button "changes" into a next playlist item function. I'll investigate further to give you the exact steps to reproduce it. Thanks for all your work. RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-10-03 Hi hubfred, glad to know that you found the offending nfo. Now I have to make tests to see if the umlauts/mutated vowels are an issue into the remote app or into the json-rpc response. Thank you for the debug. Talking about the next chapter button, maybe the reason is that if a movie doesn't have chapters then the buttons |< and >| are acting as a previous/next playlist item function. Frequent disconnects and crazy playlist behaviour during screensaver - bastafidli - 2012-10-03 Hi, I have the same problem with disconnects as reply # 306. (2012-08-07, 10:00)joethefox Wrote: 2. That's strange, never had this behavior. I need to deep investigate Were you able to find out anything? I have the same exact problem I just installed vanilla XBMC 11.0 on CentOS 6.3 and downloaded xbmcRemote on iPads (IOS 5.0 and 5.1). I have enabled the XBMC web interace port on the CentOS server and the IOS app connects just fine. Now the trouble starts. The app doesn't stay connected for more than 1-2 min. After that it disconnects and it takes 2-3 minutes before it reconnects. I couldn't figure out any pattern why is this happening. It happens when I use remote, when I browse music, pretty much any time i do anything. I can also reiterate the "mental" behaviour related to playlist. I have my XBMC setup to do slideshow as screensaver. When the screensaver kicks in, the xbmcRemote goes crazy. It loads the playlist, then reloads it, blanks it, etc. etc.. In the process it connects and disconnects many times. The only way to work around this it to repeatedly attempt to switch to remote control and then push button to disable the screen saver. If there is anything I can do to troubleshoot these, please let me know. Amazing app, thank you so much. RE: Frequent disconnects and crazy playlist behaviour during screensaver - joethefox - 2012-10-03 Hi! (2012-10-03, 16:59)bastafidli Wrote: Hi,Nope, I was unable to replicate that strange behaviour. The only thing that I thought is a wifi issue. Can you try from the iPad safari to connect to xbmc with the same information used in the app: http://<username>:<password>@<xbmc_ip>:<xbmc_port> and see if it works correctly without disconnecting while browsing your library? Here I have to replicate your situation enabling slideshow as screensaver on my side, to see what is happening. I will keep you informed about progress. RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - djlancejordan - 2012-10-03 One bug to report! Great App! Works great on my XMBC running on ATV2. However the Return key and E key on the keyboard seem to be inverted. Please check when you have a chance. Thanks RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-10-03 @djlancejordan, thank you! It's a known issue that I haven't yet solved. A workaround to prevent the bug is to turn off in XBMC the option "Remote control sends keyboard presses" under System>Settings>Input Devices (waiting a full solution) RE: Frequent disconnects and crazy playlist behaviour during screensaver - Astergiou - 2012-10-04 (2012-10-03, 19:14)joethefox Wrote: Hi! I also have the same problem with disconnects. I have 2 raspberry PIs with raspbmc rc5 and have many disconnects From a little troubleshoot I did when I had the disconnect i could connect with firefox but I the /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd (with any measure variable) did not bring any output!! I do not know if it is relative RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-10-04 @Astergiou, I'm sorry for that, but at the moment the raspbmc is a build based on a pre-alpha frodo release and the probability that you hit some error is very high and I cannot support an alpha release. For what I've saw, if you upgrade xbmc to a very recent frodo build (starting from yesterday) your issue should go away. Let me know. RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Biomanniax - 2012-10-04 Hey joethefox... i must admit i rapidly switched to your remote for IPAD from the one i was using and i reeeeeeeeally like it ![]() in the recently added episodes it would be nice to have an option to rearrange by the date you actually added the episodes, as for the moment the listing just takes you through episode numbers 1x01 1x02 etc... and its kinda annoying if you uploaded some new episodes from differnet shows that start wit 1x01 1x02 etc.... just a thought and thanks for your work ![]() RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-10-04 @Biomanniax, thank you. That wasn't my intention! an oversight, fixed in the current development and the next release will include the fix. Thank you for the segnalation! RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - xmhd - 2012-10-04 @joethefox, I love the app and registered for a couple of questions. Apologies if some are already buried in this thread somewhere, I scanned but did not find it... 1. feature request: I'm using the excellent Digitally Imported plugin for music and I found that it would be nice if I could browse through plugin menus directly on the iphone/ipad without having to switch on the tv. Granted for video you need the tv on anyway, but for audio only it'd be nice if the tv could stay off to save power. airplay is there, obviously, but seems the inferior option due to the battery drain. 2. feature request: i read on this thread about turning the iphone upside down to switch off the display and save battery. Why not go all the way and have a "black screen" option while browsing with the gesture remote or even key remote mode? I say this because I find myself not looking at the iphone most of the time since my muscle memory has understood now how to use the gestures without me thinking or watching. I got the idea when I realized that while having a phone call on speaker the screen also goes dark after a while but with a touch it come back on. So touch recognition and lit display are not linked necessarily. Details all open, but I think there could be a two-finger motion that could trigger this mode. 3. I'm not a developer, just a user. But I'd like to contibute something for this excellent piece of software. I understand there are high motives why you kept it free all along, but there could be an in-app purchase option to pay some respect. Could be the exact same feature set and you could give to charity if you don't want the money, but I think those who feel grateful and enjoy your work would be happy to have a way to show appreciation and app store purchase is the most easy way to do it. I'd like to hear also from others what they think about my suggestions. Thanks again for an already great app! RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-10-05 @xmhd, thank you! 1. Yes addons management is under development. One screenshot from a not yet finished work: ![]() 2. That's a great idea!!! I will try to implement exactly your idea. 3. Naa, no high motives. No one asked me anything when I've downloaded XBMC! and the remote is just an appendice to it. Donating to XBMC foundation is a best choice from my point of view http://xbmc.org/contribute/donate . However I want to talk with the team about your idea for an in-app purchase to donate to the foundation. Talking about me, maybe in the future I will do an app that has nothing to do with XBMC and then purchasing that app could be a thanks to me. Again many thanks for your kind words, are great motivation to continue to develop ! |
