Will you make it possible to set something like that in AZ2 also?
Doesn't even have to be these exact colors, but having a color selector to choose which colors to use for selecting items and the elapsed time of a video and if it is one color, or a gradient, would be awesome.

Sorry, it's a no on gradients - trying to minimise overheads as much as possible and keep things light.

Colour choice for selection will be an option though - that's always been a part of AZ.
 Fair enough and quite understandable.

Will it be possible to add such a thing myself, or is that very difficult to do?

tried some drop shadows on you posters do you think it adds depth ? just thought I would try it out to see what it looked like

Yeah i like it. Looks good!

I don't, they aren't floating above a physical surface.

The beauty of this skin is simplicity. Things start to get dense as soon as we add more info, more details.
Not often than not, things get confused, noisy, distracting, less hygienic.

BTW, I also like the shadow in the picture - sure it gives depth (cover comes closer, not just bigger).
Not sure if I would like it for real. See to believe Smile.

@meridius - That view has changed a fair bit since that screenshot

How it looks currently:

The big issue with any sort of drop-shadow effect is the animation as the poster comes forward. A static dropshadow texture wont look right when animated because the shadow wont move with respect to the imaginary light source - i.e. assuming the light source is directly in front of the main poster: with a 3d object, the shadow would move from right to center as the poster comes forward from the right (focusing) and then the shadow would move from the center to the left as the poster moves backwards and to the left (unfocusing).

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - TheLegendOfMart - 2019-03-10

imo the faint glow you have around them now looks much better.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - meridius - 2019-03-10

ah ok did not know you had changed the layout. I don't know how the shadows work within kodi, I just thought they could be added. Never mind it was just to see how it would of looked.

cheers for explaining.

Rounded edges are looking nice, good work.
You added the resolution icon, too. I wondered what was missing before. Smile

I don‘t really like skeuomorphic design elements in digital only user interfaces.
Hmmm, maybe I don’t like them at all anymore. For me it begins with cluttered shadows.
I see the need to add a little glow or minimal all-around-the-object shadow to add depth for the sake of clarity.
The way you achieved your own clarity looks very minimalistic and clean. I like it a lot.

I have a question for skin-modding.
How easy would it be to change the icons of a skin?
Do I just have to correct the padding and color of my icons and replace the files?

I actually don't like the rounded corners, but that's probebaly a matter of taste. Are you planning on using them everywhere?

Yes they are everywhere - however, there will be a square theme just like in AZ1. Its a simple texture swap between rounded and squared diffuse textures.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Sjors125 - 2019-03-12

Just curious; @jurialmunkey what is your own favorite skin? Always your latest one, or do you have an older favorite for personal use? Which non-jurial skin do you like best? And what feature do you really want to have in your skin, but isn't already (i.e. a feature you haven't made yet, of even might not be possible yet)?
From all of your skins I liked Eminence 2 the most (and its mod by Guillouz), but I think when AZ2 is finished, this will be my new personal favorite.

@jurialmunkey

With the old Arctic: Zephyr whenever I set the colour theme to black. use another skin, change back to Arctic: Zephyr. it always defaults back to the white theme. will this small issue be fixed for A: Z 2?

5 seconds and you already fixed the issue, it happens for every skin I use but I really don't care

I did not know it happens to every skin. Also I find your reply a bit rude.
