RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - drom - 2016-08-23 Hi sorry to bother u peeps. From Ashes looks cool but I've got too much invested in the original A.Z to change. Problem is soon I want to update to kodi 17 but I know my skin wont work on it. Is this something to do with dependencies? Can't I just install them, edit xml's or anything? I managed to edit a line somewhere to get it working properly on kodi 16. Please help. Not sure if it is in the Kodi repo yet though. It's in the next update. Also, Guardian Hope and I have talked about making color themes for AZ: FA. They just aren't a priority right now. I have thought about putting in the ability to change the Dialog panel backgrounds and the borders, but again it's not a high priority. Been working on converting all the old Dialogs over to the new ones. On the color picker, I wanted to not have it go to a separate window. Wanted to stay in same window as SkinSettings. If more people would like it back to a separate window, that can be done. I am opened to suggestions. Danvers Home Screen Design 2. Danvers Info Screen Design 3. Fix the Music Hub 4. Cleanup and Modularize the Skin Code (AZ:E was a mess everyone and AZ:FA inherited that mess) 5. Get Runtime Displaying Again as HH:MM 6. Implement Rating Stars 7. Redesign either OSD or and OSD controls 8. Make color themes 9. Rework widgets 10. Implement transparency levels to home screen and Dialogs 12. Waiting for your new home screen layout for any other redesigns 13. Provide the "White" Color Option Equal Advertisement Now, that's 13 objectives. This isn't going to happen overnight. This is going to happen through a series of Alphas, Betas, and Release Candidates. AZ:FA Danvers is the biggest change to AZ:FA since AZ:E became AZ:FA. We've been "shotgunning" releases at an unprecedented pace and @minus0 and I have had a chat about slowing down. It's not like Krypton is out to the masses yet and the skin is running on it minus the bugs you'd expect from a preview. Suggestions and ideas are always welcomed as @minus0 stated but these 13 objectives is what we're looking at for Danvers. Alpha 6 hasn't even been tested yet and chances are, it's not going to get tested before it's released. We're going to have to rely on feedback of what's broken and what's not from you all and ourselves when the skin is auto-updated. Time is the pressure cooker here. There's a lot to do and not enough time to do it in. Things will break from release to release until we get to the Release Candidate stage (the startup window even says that). Also, nothing is really final until we hit the Release Candidate stage. RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - jynxy - 2016-08-24 Seems you two have your hands full. What color is danvers going to be, i really like the blue, but i have now seen the purple ? you say beta 6 however beta 5 is not pushed to master or am i missing something ? RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - gargon - 2016-08-24 Hi Guardian Hope, Thanks so much for your great work! This skin has now become a mainstay on my Android Box! Just a quick question if possible please. I do not use Kodi, I use SPMC which has just had a recent Playstore update to 16.4-2 as I am sure you know. My question relates to which of your builds I need now for this new SPMC update, if any? You seem to have Jarvis/Danvers/Alpha 1/Krypton etc.... releases and it is all a little confusing personally. No disrespect intended, as I say, your work is much appreciated. I use an Nvidia Shield 16GB with the aforementioned SPMC build installed so do I continue to use my current 3.2.21 which seems a little sluggish since the update, or is there a more suitable skin build I should be using? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - Blurayx - 2016-08-24 Hi everyone, I'm trying to change the highlight colour because it's hard to see the text. but I can't see it in the colour settings. Thanks RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - minus0 - 2016-08-24 @Blurayx One of the many Dialogs that are getting changed. Why I changed the name of the buttons is beyond me. "Just shoot me!" Link to file you need: https://www.dropbox.com/s/28cr9k12bfiajqi/DialogSettings.xml?dl=0 The Dialog box is not complete but at least it's legible. I ask everyone just to be patient. We are slowly getting there. RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - minus0 - 2016-08-25 @Blurayx I assume you are referring to the setting for the buttons in the DialogSettings. Right now the focus color is "ColourHighlight" and the unfocus color is "Black12" which is not selectable at this moment. All the Dialog boxes are going to be using all the color selections under the "Dialog Colours" in SkinSettings. Hope this helps. RE: Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Jarvis / Krypton Fixed) [3.2.21 / 4.2.20-alpha4] - Guardian Hope - 2016-08-25 Good morning everyone! It seems there are a lot of questions here and I will do my best to get through them all. I see @minus0 has been holding the fort down for me so those of you which have answers have been skipped over as we're both pretty strapped on time at the moment. (2016-08-24, 18:01)jynxy Wrote: Seems you two have your hands full. Danvers will default toBlue with the Dark Dialogs while Orange with the Dark Dialogs will be an optional selection (these are hard code changes and unrelated to the "themes" idea that @minus0 and I have discussed for the future). Do remember that Danvers has a color selector for virtually all its colors meaning you can make it whatever color you like and that the hard coded choices we provide are not what you are limited to.. We are skipping Alpha 5 and going directly to Alpha 6. This is to signify the major changes that have taken place. Alpha 7 will be released shortly thereafter featuring only the font changes and fixes to bugs from Alpha 6. (2016-08-24, 20:27)gargon Wrote: Hi Guardian Hope, Hi there! Thank you for your compliments and for using Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes! This is after all for the community. SPMC is actually a modified version of Kodi. Details: http://spmc.semperpax.com/ The current SPMC version, 16.4.2 is Kodi Jarvis so you will need to continue to use Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes 3.2.21 (Dormer) Danvers is for Kodi Krypton only. When SPMC reaches a stage of offering Kodi Krypton, you can simply download the NortheBridge by Design Repository and download Danvers which will auto-update from thereon. This is part of our initiative to bring the skin to more people far easier than before. If you continue to notice sluggishness in From Ashes 3.2.21 after a few days, let me know. Yes, the very original Arctic Zephyr which this skin has diverged virtually completely from to the point that some have stated they aren't really the same skin anymore is available via the official repository. However, you are always welcome to try From Ashes at anytime and switch back if you prefer the original experience . Do note however, that AZ:FA is far larger (~128MB) versus AZ (~1MB) and have very different resource requirements. This is of course where the development goes well beyond its design goals because we want to add this, that, the other thing, and the kitchen sink. Thus now we have outlined the 13 objectives for From Ashes Danvers to prevent "feature creep" from occurring again. This of course does not prevent us from introducing features in the future, this is just what we want to accomplish for Krypton so we don't overburden ourselves. Remember, From Ashes differs greatly from a lot of the other skin projects and/or modifications. It's developed for free for personal use and we don't ask for donations of money. We prefer the gift of code - ask people to help out in coding what they want to see. I firmly believe that sets us a part. One final question then please. I usually backup my AZ 3.2.21 build/settings with SDcard/USB Wizard add-on within SPMC. I am not sure if you are familiar with it but it's basically just like TWRP backup for SPMC/Kodi etc and creates a zip file which you can restore or transfer to another system... I have decided to make the leap to Kodi 17 Alpha 3 as I want to try out your latest skin. How would I transfer my data/settings/configuration from my current setup, which took a while to set up, and move it across to the new build, rather than going through the whole set up process again, building menus, linking folders etc...? I mean I can just try and install the Jarvis SDcard Wizard zip file onto Danvers but I doubt it is that simple? Let me know what the best/most efficient way to do this is, if indeed there is a way to do it please. If it stores data exactly the same as Kodi than all your library settings and whatnot would remain in tact similar to regularly updating in Kodi but I have never used SPMC so I wouldn't know how to backup and restore those types of settings data. If it was a direct upgrade, Danvers would take most of the settings from Dormer automatically in my experience of testing minus the ones which aren't present over skin changes. Unfortunately, since I do not know much about SPMC all I can say is that normally, when Kodi 17 is started it starts with the default skin and once you install Danvers and select to use it, it takes the settings of the previous version of From Ashes minus anything non-persistent between skin changes. Danvers introduced much easier to use settings so a lot of settings can be configured in two button presses. Remember, if you do decide to make the jump to Kodi 17 Alpha 3, that you get the NortheBridge by Design Repository so that updates to Danvers are seamlessly installed. For Everyone: Alpha 6 will be pushed out today! Your devices will start getting the update within the next 2-12 hours per the usual. An update post will be put up tomorrow. |
