RE: WMC as the backend - released - krustyreturns - 2013-09-17 (2013-09-17, 04:14)starsin2000 Wrote: My wife likes wmc so on the main tv it will be staying and we will continue to use it to record shows. Does the server software allow xbmc to pull the metadata from the wtv file so I can see what a show is about in the bedroom? Thanks. Same with me, she will only use wmc. Years ago, getting her to switch to wmc from tivo was a struggle too - but what was cold turkey - I gave away all my tivos away. My kids are being won over to xbmc more easily. As to your question, yes all the meta data that is available in wmc is available to all the the client machines. Whether you can see what you want to see, depends on xbmc and in some cases the skin you use. Not really. As you can see from this thread we have plenty to work on just getting the basics going. I look forward to working on interesting new features in the future though - if I can ever get there. RE: WMC as the backend - released - bwall244 - 2013-09-17 Krusty I can't thank you enough! I have recently gotten into the PVR side of XBMC and had started with NextPVR which did not operate as well as I had expected. For the most part everything has been working great with a few exceptions. I have been using the Margo build with decent channel changing times and plan on upgrading to the most recent release from you this week, hopefully that will help even more. I do however have a problem that I'm sure is my doing. On every restart my manually added channel logos are cleared and have to be redone. Also I have never used WMC before this and am curious as to if the streams can be located on a NAS and Recordings created there. Basically my HTPC that I have XBMC and WMC running on has a SSD that I try to leave as much room as possible on and I would like to locate as much of it on my unraid server as possible. Again thank you, and I would be glad to help in any way that I can! So I thought it might have worked because maybe wmc was now using another (working) tuner to do this recording if wmcserver had already spun up the dud tuner? Or does "spun up" not mean it is exclusive to wmcserver? Everything works like a charm, looks great. And yes you can access "ok" and "Cancel" using the remote. I highly recommend this skin. RE: WMC as the backend - released - bry - 2013-09-17 +1 for not recording to the local ssd drive. Again thank you, and I would be glad to help in any way that I can! 'Every restart' means every restart of the server, or xbmc, or the computer? This is probably an issue with my software, so more info would help. I designed the software to use the channel logos found in wmc (see a few posts back where I described how it is supposed to work). I have not spent time finding out what happens if you manually add channel logos in xbmc, but I can believe that the way I am doing it is breaking this. I will need to spend some time on this - really I have to spend more time on channel logos in general because lots of people seem to be having trouble with it. I will add it to the bug list. As for the NAS, wmc should be able to use it, just go to the tv settings in wmc and point it at the folder you want to use for storing new recordings. When you restart the server it should find the new location. Hope this helps RE: WMC as the backend - released - spyder - 2013-09-17 (2013-09-17, 19:21)bry- Wrote:WMC will not record to a network drive(without some registry hacks), something about it not being reliable/fast enough. What I was doing was using a commercial removal program to move the files to the NAS and pointing wmc-pvr server recorded folder there.(2013-09-17, 19:03)krustyreturns Wrote: As for the NAS, wmc should be able to use it, just go to the tv settings in wmc and point it at the folder you want to use for storing new recordings. RE: WMC as the backend - released - bwall244 - 2013-09-17 I will try to name the logos exactly the same as the channel and see fi that helps. I have not seen a way to manually add logos in WMC. I didn't really see the need in donating for the plugin as I'm only using OTA and have all of about 7 channels that I keep active. As for clearing on restart, the client/server/xbmc all reside on the same htpc. Usually all are restarting at the same time. I need to sit down and restart each one on its own to see which one is clearing it. That brings me to my next thought. Going to do some testing on this running on more than 1 box using the same tuner (HDHomeRun) when I get a chance. 1 Box is on WMC and 1 is on NextPVR right now. I'm suprised that WMC won't sllow recording to a mapped network drive. I am able to stream live TV over a close range 5.0GHz wireless N connection. Which btw to my own suprise I have confirmed streaming a full BR ISO over N is completely possible. In the EPG Guide in XBMC, I clicked ('C' I believe) to record the News (30 minutes show). When I got home, I see 2 recordings of the same News. Now I have an HDHomerun Dual, and am wondering if perhaps XBMC (and or this plugin), caused both tuners to record the same show. Also, is there an option with this plugin (or in XBMC), like in WMC, to record a series, or set record dates (Mon-Friday, etc)? I'll test more tonight. Look back in this thread in last couple of pages to see notes about how to record series form xbmc. RE: WMC as the backend - released - Powerhouse - 2013-09-17 Both recordings were the same length (like 34 minutes long). I'm using the ACE skin, and the skin creator (MarcosQui) hasn't updated his skin with the PVR stuff yet (he is working on it for both ACE and Aeon). In the meantime, I've been using the fix (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=171745), someone created for ACE (which works great btw). However, those two xml files you talk about are missing, so I will add them, thanks for the info on that. Those two xml files are something I wrote so that I could implement series recording and deleting in xbmc, so most skins won't have them because they only work with this pvr. You can add them yourself but they will look weird if you don't adapt them to the current skin (or ask the skin author to). Right now I can't think of why you got two recordings of the same show, please let me know if it continues. RE: WMC as the backend - released - Powerhouse - 2013-09-17 Yeah, I will test tonight and let you know how the recordings go. Regarding Recording vs Series Recording, again, using the fix for ACE, when I click on a show in the EPG, I'm prompted to 'Switch, Record, or OK'. The XML files that were updated, that allow this are... DialogPVRGuideInfo.xml MyPVR.xml ViewsLiveTV.xml and for your custom Series recordings, these 2 XML files are needed... DeleteTimer.xml RecordPrefs.xml So when I click 'Record' from the first dialog box, will it then prompt me if I want to make this a Series Recording? Or will I have a new dialog box that says 'Switch, Record, Record Series, Ok'? |
