Possibly dumb question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.  I see that there are some TV posters which are animated now.  Is the naming scheme for those the same as for the movie posters or is there something like the way that trailers are different between movies and television shows?

Are animated posters similarly implemented differently?

The naming scheme is the same.

tvshow-poster.jpg or in the case of animated posters it's tvshow-poster.gif or tvshow-poster.apng

If the file type is tvshow-poster.png you will need to change the .png file extension to .apng to enable animated posters.

Once you change the .png file extension to .apng the icon will change to a blank white icon (in Windows 10; not sure of other OS).

Notice:
Animated PNG (APNG) is not yet supported by all major browsers. It is currently supported by Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari.
