openvpn /storage/.config/vpn-config/uk-southampton.ovpn &

Do you have any ideas?? If I run (openvpn /storage/.config/vpn-config/uk-southampton.ovpn &) in putty it starts up again. Am I missing a command?

dunno, I'd check with the OpenELEC folks on their forums or IRC support channel. I'd speculate that you need to run that command after your network connection comes back up, which is not happening currently

Is there any setting on denon to cater for ASUS chromebox passthrough issues ?

sounds like a Denon firmware issue, not a ChromeBox one. FWIW, my Marantz NR1605 has no issues with suspend/passthru etc.

I can confirm suspend problem with denon x2000 series

Hi folks, I've got my Chromebox running in standalone with Windows, just wondering how I can update the coreboot firmware?

Thanks

Help unbricking Asus Chromebox M004U - joeilly - 2015-06-26

I must have done something wrong following the instructions of the OP. I was attempting to do a standalone openelec install. After creating the recovery usb, I couldn't get past the boot screen "Booting from hard disk...". Can't get Ctrl-D to work. Ditto for hitting Esc. Tried entering recovery, but get stuck in the same spot. I created a recovery usb using the Google utility, but there's no way to get the Chromebox to look at the USB. It only hangs on the same screen "Booting from hard disk..."
Any suggestions?
Many thanks!

Possibly a USB drive that doesn't want to boot. Not all are made equal.

Try some other USB drives.

Thanks, nickr. I'll pick up a new one and try that.

There i am again.
I have been using my Chromebox with the newly installed Kodi since i got your help here Matt.
Today i switch it on and BAM i have the exact same issue again.

Code:
Booting from hard disk...
It appears your computer has only 639k of low ("DOS") RAM.
This version of Syslinux needs 9k to boot.
If you get this message in error, hold down the Ctrl key while booting, and I will take your word for it.
Boot error.

Looks like this is becoming a habit of the device.

Difference is: this time i had no crash before this happened.
I always leave it in standby.
If i have to reinstall Kodi every 3 days, that is no fun.

How would i be able to find the root cause of this? Might it be faulty RAM or SSD?

"leave it in standby" - are you talking about ChromeOS or OpenELEC? The latter doesn't suspend/resume properly in a dual boot setup due to the TPM chip usage of the stock firmware, which is noted on the wiki.

That's probably it then. I was using suspend mode from openelec.
Hmm sad Confused

It works fine in a standalone setup with my custom firmware Smile

Now here is the funny thing: i started Chromeos again yesterday, rebootet and gave Kodi another shot and the problem was gone. No more boot problems. I don't get it.

hi everyone, i'm currently using the samsung chromebox series 3. Following all the instructions for standalone install. Everything works until the part where I am supposed to plug in my usb drives (containing my Windows 7 .iso) to be installed. However, screen freezes at 'starting windows', where the balls starts to converge to form the windows logo, am I doing anything wrong here?

1) Windows 7 is unsupported
2) this thread isn't for Windows support, this one is
3) you're not likely to find many others running Windows on the older Samsung ChromeBox.
