How can I fix this, please help me before I go apeshit on my new tv

I suspect it's the same issue I ran into with a 4K visio set, where it advertises accepting 1080p 120Hz input but actually doesn't. You can test this by booting on the new TV, then connecting via ssh and checking the output resolution / refresh rate via xrandr --props, and then manually set it to 1080p60 (via xrandr, not sure of exact command) if it's not already. Might be worth popping on IRC to get some help there

Matt do you mean ssh into tv or chromebox?

EDIT I can't seem to ssh into TV and I don't know the user name / password for openelec

After creating the recovery usb, I couldn't get past the boot screen "Booting from hard disk...". Can't get Ctrl-D to work. Ditto for hitting Esc. Tried entering recovery, but get stuck in the same spot. I created a recovery usb using the Google utility, but there's no way to get the Chromebox to look at the USB. It only hangs on the same screen "Booting from hard disk..."
Any suggestions?
Many thanks!

Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same issue. Thanks.

root/openelec. It's on their wiki Smile

It's either an issue with your keyboard or USB stick (as per the wiki). Pressing anything other than ESC as directed is sure to bollocks things up. The recovery button and CTRL-D/L have no function once you've flashed my custom firmware.

Matt this is the output from xrandr (with kodi viewable on my tv). How should i get it to default to 1080px60?

also, does this mean i can't view 4k content from chromebox?

thanks

so, the output of xrandr is telling us that 3840x2160p30 is the default resolution (indicated by the +), which apparently your TV doesn't like (at least on that particular input - some 4K TVs are picky about that). 4K 30Hz output is pretty crappy for the GUI, so outputting 1080p60 is actually better unless you have h264 4K content you want to play.

To set the output to 1080p60 on startup, create an autostart.sh script containing the following:
Code:
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080

Hi,

Did anyone tried the Chromebox DiplayPort 1.2 output to HDMI 2.0 TV input ?
As it's the only way to have 2160p60.

Thanks

There's no adapter from DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 which utilizes MST (multi-stream transport, which effectively uses 2 displays as one), so there's no way to get 2160p60 out of the Chromebox via HDMI, period

Hi Matt,

Are all the videos up-scaled to the resolution that is indicated by the '+' in xrandr (native resolution)?

Thanks

They are scaled to the selected output resolution, up or down. The native resolution of the display doesn't factor in at all

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/07/18] - desperado77 - 2015-07-20

Is there a way to limit the GUI to 1080p60 and use the 2160p output resolution for videos ? like in raspberry pi Smile

Bizlink announced DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 Adapter, but no retailer have this now.

Thanks

Easiest way is to re-run the script (only have to do it once) and select the stable version instead
