1.2.2 doesn't show the year in (movie) OSD any more... it this on purpose (if so: why) or a bug?
Btw.: How about showing the IMDB rating and age rating in the media information 3 view?

It should show year if year is not included in title.If year in title then not show as dont want year year in title

Hi Mudislander. "try delete the mod zip in the folder XBMC/addons/packages/ and then install from repo " Worked! I had to search to find the zip in /addons/packages/. I set my skin to hybrid and exited XBMC. Renamed the Confluence Customizable Mod skin zip file. Had to scan a bit on Github to find the Hybrid repo. Downloaded the latest version. Then did a manual install of zip file. Closed XBMC. Reopen XBMC and found the skin in disabled Add on's and enabled it. Then went into Settings Appearances and picked Confluence Customizable Mod.
Boom. All was back to normal.
Any idea what happened? I'll keep a copy of this procedure if it ever does, just would like to know if I can do anything to prevent it in the future.

Yeah, the file addon.xml got given an unwanted "space" as the first character and XBMC couldn't read the file. Normally check that sort of thing, but had borrowed wife's laptop and she needed it back. Must be a moral in that story

Sorry but was talking from memory as away on phone, but that is the one I thought you wanted. What about the "Show Video OSD Menu" toggle - which hides everything?

I actually I agree and think the ability to choose the default OSD button that you use the most is a good idea.
I also use Subtitles a lot and its true that its a bit annoying to have to arrow over to that button every time.
Even the most basic remotes should have Play/Pause on a hard button (even if it is via the select/enter button), as well as normally some ffd/rwd/skip capability via the hard arrows, so normally there is no need to use the OSD for this (unless I am missing something?).
Whereas I dont think there is even any default keymap for the Subtitle 'Menu', so having it selectable as a default would be very useful

That's too bad. All my movies have the year in their title(=filename right?). According to the XBMC naming conventions that's the right way, as it makes scraping a lot easier.
I never had a problem with the year shown double in OSD, it worked perfectly as is was before 1.2.2. and other skins with this feature (Transparency! for example) work as well.
It would be great if you could look into his topic again. Maybe the "double problem" has something to do with media information xml like amber generates?

If its useful for Mudislander to help with troubleshooting, this is how my Title names are (each Movie has its own folder):
Folder: Some Movie Title (Year)
FileName: Some Movie Title _Year_.extension
The AddOn I am using adds the files automatically like this. I am not using any other media info xml or nfo files.

The fix could be working for you, because the year in your filenames is not in brackets(?). The reason for the "double-problem" could have been the presence of the year (in brackets) included in the folder AND the filename. This would explain, why you had the problem and i didn't.
I don't use extra folders for each movie, my filestructure is like this: \genrefolder\movietitle (year).extension
@Mudislander: Wouldn't it be possible to read the year off the video database table movie/row c07? The other information in the OSD (studio and movie title) seems to come from the db, so why read the year off the filestructure?

After I recently looked again at the first page of the CCM thread I might also add that a first time user might not even see anywhere all of the capabilities that CCM offers. The first post isnt very up to date, and it only has 1 image.I see a lot of posts in the main Confluence skin thread asking how to get functionality that CCM already offers.
These posts often also seem to be from owners of low powered devices, since there is a profileration of them enteing the market now.
Just imagine how many users/downloads there might be if more people where easily advised of all of the functionality that CCM offers...
So, I made a small effort to maybe do something about that...

My fairly simple setup. But it is running on multiple devices, all syncd with MySQL, and I'm working on remote access too...
These images are mainly to show case what Confluence Customizable Mod can do in terms of Menu options, and other useful Tweaks whilst still being optimised for lower powered devices, in my case an aTV, iPad, and iPhone.
(so, the images dont show all the FanArt and Background customization possibilites that are also available with the CCM Skin)

quick one on the subject of the certifications/ratings. I'm in the uk and am having some issues. feel free to tell me to get lost if this isnt skin related. i have tried scraping with TMDB and with UNIVERSAL SCRAPER (and have both setup to use UK ratings.
Here's the issues:
Does it have to be called "MPAA rating"? i presume the MPAA is an american thing?
I think it would be cool if the user could edit some of these categories for example I would have
"IMDB Rating" instead of "Rating"
and I would have "Rated" instead of "MPAA Rating"
what do you reckon?
