could be anything mate, when you say it doesnt work are you saying the movie playing but not with MADVR but with the built in renderer, if so it means you may not have set your rules up properly, in this version you have to both setup you rules and filters manually, not like the older 17.6 version where it was all ready to go just about.

I have a look at page 1 on this thread and have a good read.

thank you for your reply.

I thought I did all that it mentioned in post 1.

created new Player rules etc. have the Video Renderer madVR also setup. Movie is starting but madvr is not running.

I do not know what else I could do. unfortunately no options than giving up.

Why not start with dsplayer 17.6 first and get that working, and then go from there?

I had a 17.6 running, but this get brocken with updating madVR from beta 113 to 139. more specific: it gets broken after updating madVR and LAV. so I started do to make everything new: 17.7, 18.9, 19.1 etc etc without a luck. 18.9 and 19.1 runs with mpc-be but I am not happy with the outcome especially because of the lack of OSD in the player and some other disadvantages that reduces the player experience. so I thought restart everything with 17.7. I will try to start again with 17.6. maybe this will work with the latest madvr and LAV.

I'm running 17.6 with updated LAV filters, and the latest MadVR beta, with zero issues.

try using MADVR with MPC-HC, all you need to do in that is select MADVR as the renderer, if that works it means its an issue with DSplayer, if so wipe and and start again, make sure you use it in portable mode as it makes its easier to reinstall as you can have multiple versions on same PC for testing purposes.

how did you update the LAV and configured it in Kodi?

I set up filters management --> internal filters
and under extra external filter --> LAV Video Decoder (lavvideodec)

this is not working :-(

if you are not sure how to set this up go back to 17.6 version here, this version is a little more advanced setup wise, you are not really gaining much using this version at all, you are gaining nothing picture quality wise, this version just has a few gui tweaks and bug fixes, the older version still works fine and works well with the minimum of config.

The simplest way to use MADVR is MPC-HC though as external filters are baked in and get updated quite often.

Awesome. finally the 17.6 works now. thank you for your help. the external LAV filters was more a trial and error but it is solved now.

Hello,

since a few days I have the problem that I have no more subtitles (Kodi 17.6/17.7 DSPlayer).
BUT...only in UHD MKV files.....all 1080p files the subtitles work.... Can anyone explain this?

Thanks

I could never get external filters to work, someone posted awhile ago that you just go to the path of the internal filters and copy the newer filters there, I did that and it works.

Having used DS Player version for years, older version was better IMHO, way too complicated to get this newer version setup.  Still don't understand why Dsplayer can't get integrated into the mainline.  Just have option DSPlayer or no dsplayer.  Eventually I'm going to have to run two Kodi versions which is quite a pain as this one gets further and further left behind.

I have also just set it up and it runs perfectly.

I will use it if I ever have a film with subtitles (which I need in the film). That way I can continue to use Kodi and get out of the way if necessary.

I won't restart the system because of subtitles that come up now and then...  But it is strange....I always thought MKV was MKV.... It's strange that only the UHD subtitles are not displayed.

I use Kodi DSPlayer and I don't have any problem with subtitles in 4K HDR material.
