To get around this problem for now I installed libcdio17 from Ubuntu's bionic ppa. wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/362930472/libcdio17_1.0.0-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i libcdio17_1.0.0-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb I am now running kodi on cosmic beta I hope the ppa will be updated for cosmic.
