Best Buy is showing to have an amazing sale on the Core i3 Asus Chromebox for $99.99, but can anyone actually buy the product at a Best Buy near you? All the Denver stores show it is out of stock: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-chromebox-intel-core-i3-4gb-memory-16gb-solid-state-drive-black/6345184.p?id=1219209052703&skuId=6345184&productCategoryId=pcmcat212600050008

Balls! That was a hell of a deal. It appears to be completely out of stock now.

I am not sure if it was ever in stock, but the product is no longer on the best buy page today.

On Openelec 6.0 beta 3 system fan runs high speed after resuming from sleep for a while (maybe 30s or so). Once it didn't go slower at all. I'm running Asus Chromebox Celeron.

Has anyone else had same experience? With 5.0.8 the fan was always silent.

ACPI changes in the Linux kernel starting around 3.19 or so. With the standalone firmware, seems to run for about 10s here. Haven't had time to look into it, and a pretty low priority since my box stays on 24/7

OK. Not major problem, I can easily live with it. Smile

I have a Hp Chromebox with openelec and a acer hd6520 projector. When I was testing the setup I hooked up the box to the projector and things were working fine. I have not changed any settings and now I dont get a picture on the projector. Both HDMI inputs on the projector are working when I hook up other devices so I've eliminated the cables and the ports as the source.

When I power down the chromebox and then do a long push power on it says "Checking signal" and then goes to NO INPUT on the HDMI 1 and 2 ports. When I hook the chromebox up to a 32" samsung TV, there is no problem.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix?

Thanks

I guess the implication is the output is not 1920x1080 @60Hz so the projector is not getting the signal. Is it not fair to say that when I hooked it up to the samsung and went it and changed the settings to 1920x1080 @ 60hz and then shut it off and plugged it into the project and it didnt work that that setting doesnt stick. ?

Thanks

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/07/18] - Matt Devo - 2015-07-26

The implication is that the Chromebox is for some reason outputting a signal that your projector doesn't like, so you may need to use an autostart.sh script to set the correct resolution for the projector, whatever that may be

@BigDaddy xrandr might help show you what mode the projector supports.

Always when I wake up my Chromebox from suspend the Fan is spinning very loud. Sometimes its just 10 Seconds, but it can be much longer until I restart.

Bear with me please..newbie.

I SSHd into the unit.

I did the following

nano /storage/.config/autostart.sh

Then I typed
(
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080
)&

THen hit CTRL O to save and then rebooted the machine

It still shows SIGNAL PROCESSING on the projector when it boots up but for about 5 seconds and then goes to "NO SIGNASL " and has no picture. When I go into SSH and type xrandr I get the following

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 32767 x 32767
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

The weird thing is at one point it was working fine when I first hooked up the machine and it is gone despite the fact that I didnt change anything. I have completely factory reset it now so I dont know what setting I had to make it work before. Why does it say HDMI1 disconnected?

Thanks

Post the output of
xrandr --props | pastebinit

as I stated in the previous post. Without the props argument, not getting any useful information as to what output modes your projector is reporting as supporting. Also need to know the native resolution for your particular projector to see if that matches up with what it's reporting.

Also, you will need to lose the parentheses and ampersand in your autostart.sh file - not sure why you added those in

I am fairly certain this is a kernel issue. Probably https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78201 .
