For those of you who are interested, here is the changelog so far for the next version:

Code:
* Feature: New updaters: "New Movies" and "Marked Movies"
* Feature: Each updater is now broken down into: All Items, NFO Only, Poster Only, Fanart Only, Extrathumbs Only
* Fix: Folder name for "VIDEO_TS" movies.... for real this time
* Fix: Another hole in the resolution to descriptor logic
* Change: Scrape writers even if full crew is not selected
* Change: Support for listing thumbs in the nfo
* Change: Tweaks to media info scanning
* Change: If a media info tag already exists, display that in the media info section of the info panel instead of recreating it each time.
* Change: Some tweaks to the updaters
* Change: Revert to saving "tt" in nfo id again
* Change: Ignore movie files with "sample" in the filename

I don't want to move on from here until I get the update-ask scrapers working for everyone. Since it's working fine for me, I need someone who is having problems with it to help in tracking down why. Going to go lie down, watch a movie, and pass out. But if someone would like to help out and has some time in the evening tomorrow (after 5 PM -6GMT) please PM me.

nul7 Wrote:Hmmm..... working for me. The only case where I see that it doesn't download ofdb info is when the movie doesn't exists on ofdb. Just to be sure, you have one or all of the "Use OFDB <item>" items selected in settings, right? If so, can you give me an example of a movie that does not download the info from ofdb?

I have selected all OFdb items in settings. The problem is if I am manually "Re-scrape IMDB" for one movie, all available informations will be scraped from OFdb for this movie. If I am using "Update Media" -> "All Movies" -> "Automatic (Best Force)" the movie-informations stay english.
I have to say that I have informations for my movies yet. The problem is that they are at the moment in english which is why I just want to update them with the OFdb scraper. (So I am currently not scraping for new movies with the Automatic-Tool)

once again, great work. recursive scanning works perfect. well everything works perfect.
Few silly questions, Media Info Plus can reduce the quality of the fanart/posters upto 60% i was wondering if you are going to add that any time? Also any idea when you will start on TV shows section?

Thank you very much. awesome job.

I do not see these posts here on XBMC. Try to use the MR forum.

I thought folks wanted the best resolution artwork possible so your request did not cross my mind. Of course I can reduce the resolution (and change it to a local link, I presume?). Please use the MR forum so I can track the requests.

Yeah, I also want to say thank you, you created the most user-friendly media manager out there IMO.
One question, do you take part in the unified media manager project?
Just curious..

nul7 Wrote:If IMPA has posters for a movie, there is a link from the IMDB page. What I do is scrape the IMDB posters page looking for an IMPA link. If found, scrape that link.

TMDB has an API to get the movie info, posters, and fanart.
The IMDB links is not good. Try a few manual searches and then do a search at the IMPA side and compare the results (or, for that matter, select the 'artwork link in MR and expand the IMPA tree node). You will see that I find far more posters with a lot less page fetches.

>>> TMDB has an API to get the movie info, posters, and fanart.

Yes, MR uses it.

Btw, I offered the use of the 24hourloop IMPA search engine to third parties ...

That's very strange. It actually uses the same code whether you use the automatic updaters or the single scraper so if it works for one, it should work for all. Is it possible that the movie(s) you're trying to scan simply do not exist on OFDB?

No problem! Figured you had your reasons to need it there and it wasn't a big deal to add it back but still keep the current code so why not?

Thanks! You can currently automatically reduce the size of the fanart/posters... I can add the ability to reduce quality as well. Please add a request to the google code issues page so I don't forget.

Thank you! I do not take part in the umm project at this time. I am not sure if I could provide anything worthwhile.

I think you're confused as to what thread you're posting in. This thread is about Ember, not MR.

No unfortunately I can not be:
I have my movie "21" with English Informations. Then I make the Automatic update and the information doesn't change to the german ones. When I am using for the same movie "Re-Scrape IMDB", the german infos are getting loaded fine. I think it is a kind of "overwritting the old english information"-issue in the automatic-mode maybe...

Hmmmm... I see. Not sure how that could happen, but I'll look into it.

I replaced a movie with one of a different resolution and I can't seem to figure out how to get Ember to simply update the media info for it. Is there a way?

Edit: Also I have a folder full of ~150 movies that Ember had no problems scanning before, but it is now only finding only 26 movies there for some reason. Any ideas? (no error log)

Edit 2: There should be a column for movies that do and don't have extrathumbs (maybe hidden by default), and a way to autogenerate them for a single movie (unless there is a way and I can't find it).

I just did this myself. I usually delete movie.nfo first and then perform an update. I did notice that the media info was not updated however (still showing 480i). I then clicked on refresh (next to media info) and all was good.

Maybe there's an easier way...

1> All you have to do is hit the refresh button in the media info section of the info panel

2> Ummmm.... not sure. Can you find a common difference between the ones it finds and the ones it doesn't?

3> As mentioned on the issues page, you can generate extrathumbs in the "extract frames" tab of the movie editor. You can also rescrape the fanart and check the boxes of the fanart that you want to use for extrathumbs.
