Ember Media and XBMC problem - steve22 - 2010-11-26

I am using Ember Media with XBMC but running into a problem and it is this. If I scrape a flim on issues and XBMC will load. Now if I attempt to do the same except place Fanart and poster and Plot myself all this information will go into Ember on problem, but if I now load up XBMC and and go to my movies I can see the Flim I scraped but the childrens program is no were to be found, if I restart XBMC I may get it to appear but there will be no Plot information. The fanart will appear and the poster, but no info is present.I am using the lasted release of XBMC (Dharma Beta 4) and (Ember V1.2)

USE!!! the fullcast workaround (with limiting the number of actors if you wish). What is the problem with that guys? Why are you looking for other solutions if there is one which works perfectly?

On the other hand I will help Dazza to deliver an even better solution and make it available for you all.
BUT no reason for whining and asking when it will be available! There is a working workaround!

The problem is that it doesn't work perfectly. It disables original and small poster sizes. The workaround is a good fix for now to keep the program operational and I'm glad its there. But if there is a way to get it working the way it USED to work without a workaround that would be preferential. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining because even with the work around and the poster issues, Ember is STILL far and large the best program available.

I don't think what you are mentioning here is related to the workaround.

Edit: just checked and it doesn't happen to me. If you are talking about tmdb posters I can choose any size, including original.

Well before the workaround I couldn't scrape anything. Now I can scrape everything but original posters. Maybe I should try reinstalling the program and see if that helps since it works for you. The lack of original poster ability is the only thing that is bothering me.

I was messing around and overwrote on of my drives with 50 or so movies. Ember has scrape them before is there a way or sometype of file history in Ember that I can open up to help track down what those Movies were?

Well, options->movies->files & sources "Clean Database after updating library" is probably on for you (it's on by default I think?) so I doubt you can see anything in the media.emm db.

In options->movies->scrapers Images & trailers->caching , do you have "persistent image cache" enabled? I've had that on in my installation for quite a while and the temp folder (in emm's installed program directory) has sub-directories for all the movies I've ever scraped in emm. They are sitting in there in folders named after the imdb ID. Not sure how you could use those imdb id's in some automated type of search though.

Sorry guys - had a problem with the Max version number used in the Add-on details. Should appear now.

clock2113 Wrote:The following doesn't work for me, even with fullcast enabled (everything else does):

1) Go to custom scraper, scrape nfo only
2) Choose only rating, votes, top250
3) Watch as all your movies lose this data instead of being updated.

Does this work for anyone else and I'm doing something wrong, or is this indeed broken?

Hi Dazza,

Just downloaded your addon and tried the above, but it's just erasing those fields like the old EMM scraper does.

if i am reading this right then if Ember scrapes the info then it shows up fine and if Ember doesn't find the info and you do it manually then it doesn't show right

if this is correct then because in the first instance it shows up properly then that would tell me everything is working fine
then it has to be how your creating the files or the format is incorrect in your files
I know not all of my movies were scraped properly but most of the info was pulled down.....but i would be missing the plot
but the nfo was created but i added the info manually into the file where it should be and it showed up fine
so compare the nfo file to others that are working because you prob entered it in improperly

I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong. I reinstalled the program and tried the new scraper and I still can't download any original posters. It let me do it on the first movie I scanned, and then every movie after that, the original poster was grayed out. Anyone have any ideas how to get original poster scraping back?

did you load your movies from the deleted drive into xbmc database?
If you did, than please open the movie.db in the xbmc folder and search for the drive name (i.e d: or e: ), then you will see the paths and name of the movies.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Should be OK.
Try to create a separate installation and make a test folder with a couple of movies and play around with it. Forget Dazza's scraper for now. Experiment with the fullcast workaround first.

is it me or ember media manager uses a lot of cpu resources when scraping?

- hdmax - 2010-11-29

This seams like a pretty good scrapper overall. However, every time it comes to a movie that it can not find the proper info, the only choice I have is cancel, than it looks as if it is continuing from there but it does not pull any information. I than have to cancel scrape, and start over. I have nearly 3,500 movies, so this is a huge pain.
I am just into "C" and I have had to restart about 8 times.
It would be really useful if there were a "skip this movie" option.

Other great feature would be for this program to use the year in the file name. IE: Tower\Movies\36 Hours (1965) As many movies of the same name have been produced several times, and it is time consuming to look through the list.

In the movie listed above that is the correct name and year listed on IMDB web site, yet Ember can not find it at all.

Overall, this is by far the best scraper I have tried! Thanks.......

for large movies, use force accept. it may get it wrong, but you can fix it later. although, i would prefer for ember to cache searched list and cache covers because fixing a movie requires you to wait for ember to find related movies(which it already did before) and fixing cover requires you to wait for ember to download all covers. i would like the fixing process to be as fast as they could.

by the way, how do i rename folders automatically? is there a walkthrough on how to do it. i tried but there is no movie listed to be rename. it would be great if i can rename folders only as filename is needed when to find subtitle.

- hdmax - 2010-11-29

Once I got my collection of movies built up pretty good (well over 2500) and all still in one master folder, I than found and used file2folder. It automatically moves the movie into it own folder, and gives the folder the same name. I don't know how you can do it if your movies are already in individual folders.

I would like to find a program that would change the movie folder look into the poster image.
