RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/09/05] - Matt Devo - 2015-09-26 (2015-09-26, 22:17)BigRich911 Wrote: I'd like to try to use my chromebox to run plex server and a pvr backend while I use my aftv and kodi for the front end. I have an external hdd mounted to my Netgear Nighthawk router that has my libraries.. What hardware and software should I use? Thanks. sounds like a question for the PVR and/or Plex forums, since it's unrelated to my EZ Setup Script and/or running Kodi on the ChromeBox (though you'll want to flash my standalone firmware before installing whatever Linux distro you decide). Take a look at Mythbuntu perhaps? RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/09/05] - BigRich911 - 2015-09-27 My mistake Matt. I have already used your setup to install openelec and kodi. Thanks for that by the way. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=240220 RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/09/05] - Sunflux - 2015-09-27 (2015-09-26, 21:47)Matt Devo Wrote: it's due to a change/bug in the Linux kernel which started with kernel 3.20 I believe, and ChromeBox users aren't the only ones affected. I'll add a note to the wiki and see if there's anything I can do firmware wise to mitigate it for now. Thanks - I could've sworn it didn't USED to happen on my old box. At least not originally. But now both ChromeBoxes (HP Celeron, ASUS i3) do it identically, and the one has a BIOS that's well over a year old. It's not so much the starting up at high speed, it's how long it stays there. And I'm pretty sure there are instances where it either never ramps back down again, or takes an abnormally long time. My old system is in a cabinet so I can't hear it too clearly, but the new one is in the open so it's painfully obvious when 30 seconds in it's still whirring away at full speed. I understand and am able to replicate the problem, I just haven't had time to work on it, and for the meantime just leave my box on 24/7 RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/09/05] - punksterz626 - 2015-09-28 When considering a Chromebox, which processor should one look for? Celeron, i3, or i7? This may be a dumb question, is there a sponsor on this site that offer modded chromebox with Kodi/openELEC? I would need to create a separate standalone/full firmware replacement for it though, for which I'd need to have access to a box for testing. Given its late arrival, I can't think of any reason to recommend the Broadwell version over Haswell, and so probably won't bother putting any effort towards it unless someone sends me a box. I'm certainly not going to spend my own money on one =P RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/09/05] - martinqc101 - 2015-10-01 (2015-08-30, 19:09)FouxAM Wrote:(2015-08-30, 17:41)noggin Wrote:(2015-08-30, 16:20)FouxAM Wrote: Thank you for the response Matt, I think i have a similar bug. I install kodibuntu 14.04 (recommanded on the main page) with mythtv backend 0.275 version on my Asus chromebox. I have a Hdhomerun extend tv tuner. It transcode in H.264. After 5-10 minutes it go straight to 100% with full ram and the video and kodi will lag. I have the stable kodi 15.1. I suspect it a vertical sync problem. I try all video configuraiton possible. without success. I can watch a blu ray movie from a other pc on my chromebox but i can't Watch live tv or Watch somme recording movie. I install 2 time kodibuntu. First time with the swap partition and the second time without the swap partition because (like it wrinting in install instruction). Now i search to try some new solution! And ...sorry for my English |
