RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/02] - Matt Devo - 2015-11-03 (2015-11-03, 16:59)Lambada123 Wrote: Hello Matt, the issue that the Firmware Updates are not working with openelec 3.2.4 are still there... Firmware on my Box 20151015 your kernel log doesn't tell me what went wrong unfortunately, and I'm not too keen to support such an old version of OpenELEC. Boot another Linux via USB and run the script from there, and let me know if that works. Though I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by reinstalling the same firmware again - the script told you that you already have the latest version. (2015-11-03, 17:11)McButton Wrote: Hey! Got it. Getting the ISO to transfer was a bit odd, but it worked. I ran into some snags, but as long as you follow the prompts, it's easy...OH, and make sure the wifi is connected once you hit Ubuntu. good deal RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/03] - takokama - 2015-11-04 I have Asus chromebox running 5.0.8 (stand alone). To update it to OpenElec 6 should I follow this procedure? Thank and appreciate your work. curl -L -O http://goo.gl/3Tfu5W Create OpenELEC USB/SD Installer (standalone) reboot and press [ESC] at the boot menu prompt, and select the USB device for installation. After booting the OpenELEC installer, choose the 'Quick Install' option, select [YES]/[OK] as needed. When installation is complete, remove the USB stick, choose the reboot option, and OpenELEC will be booted in ~6 seconds. It could be that when you ran it previously I had neglected to update the version file and it was incorrectly reporting an update available. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/03] - BoxFreak - 2015-11-04 Just updated to Fritsch EGL-version of Openelec 6.0, and now one of processor cores is constantly at 100% while idling on main menu. I have just updated to Fritch's tweaked version. Should I turn off automatic updates? If it auto updates will it erase the fixes that Fritch has done and if so where do I look for updates when they are available? Thanks RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/03] - fritsch - 2015-11-05 I uploaded version 6.0.95 yesterday - that should not be updated. Check your kodi.log if you are still on my version. I will upload another 6.0.96 version later on - as users refuse to read my "settings howto" ... and run into constant trouble :-) Scratch that - users should learn to read: 2.) KODI settings System->Settings->System->Video Settings: Vertical Sync: Let Driver decide System ->Video->Acceleration: Enable HQ Scalers for scaling above: 20% Allow hardware acceleration (VDPAU): off Allow hardware acceleration (VAAPI): On Use Mpeg-2 VAAPI: Yes Use Mpeg-4 VAAPI: if you like UseVC-1 VAAPI: on Prefer VAAPI Render Method: on <- This version has the banding fixed, so enable that setting to save CPU cycles with 100% quality. Adjust Refreshrate to match video: On System -> Video -> Playback Sync Playback to Display: On if you don't use passthrough and Off if passthrough enabled (* This makes no sense when you want to use passthrough, why? Read: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=231955&pid=2107461#pid2107461). In current versions (Jarvis) passthrough is disabled by us if users wants to Sync Playback to Display to care for people that refuse to read. Adjust display refresh rate to match video: On Start / Stop While watching a SD(!) video, that is accelerated by VAAPI, e.g. mpeg-2 or h264, click the film role and choose: Deinterlace: Auto (Never set this to ON it will harm for everything that is not interlaced) Deinterlacing-Method: VAAPI-MCDI or VAAPI-MADI (Baytrail, Sandybridge), Scaling Method: Lanczos3 Optimized and choose save for all files. Remember to do this only in combination with the above "scaling above" for 20%. This Lanczos3 Optimized filter might be too heavy for BYTs, here you might - depending on the file - choose Bilinear. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/03] - darebee - 2015-11-05 BradD - If you got the latest Fritsch build OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-6.0.95-fritsch.tar you should not need to turn off auto updates. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/03] - Matt Devo - 2015-11-05 FYI, the wiki has been updated with the correct settings for OE6 (both standard and Intel-EGL builds), including screenshots. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/03] - CaTz - 2015-11-06 Hi all, Big Thanx to Matt. I have the Asus Chromebox, with OE 5.0.8 all worked fine, i wanted to update to OE 6, and from some reason the video playback is freezes in random stages of the movie for couple of seconds and then runs in fast forward for few seconds and continues normally. I have encountered that with update to OE 6 beta, clean install of OE 6 beta. with final OE 6 and fritsch's custom Intel-EGL OpenELEC build. Also, i`ve tried to rollback to OE 5.0.8 and there everything works fine. Does someone knows the reason for that issue? I will make a debug log at the evening...
