RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/10] - Matt Devo - 2015-11-13 (2015-11-13, 12:33)BoxFreak Wrote: Sometimes kswapd0 is using nearly 50% of CPU while idling. On Openelec system information it seems that one core is nearly 100% all the time when this happens. Is this common bug or is it just me? Running latest EGL build. "latest" isn't a build version - what does the OpenELEC Settings/About page report as the version? (2015-11-13, 12:34)fritsch Wrote: Nobody knowssss without a Debug Log ... and this. "logs or it didn't happen" RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/10] - teki4u - 2015-11-13 (2015-11-13, 06:41)Matt Devo Wrote: "average user" and "ubuntu server" generally don't go together . The EGL thread is for users who want to run the EGL version with a minimal Ubuntu install; the server version just happens to be the easiest way to do that. The EGL builds give the best PQ on Intel hardware regardless of the video file type (progressive/interlaced).Lol average user because of the video and music file types I play, that's it. About the EGL, its what I thought. Kinda an install with all the bells and whistles as of today for this device. There should be a paragraph at the top of the thread explaining in non technical words what's that for and for what user oriented anyway. There are a lot settings in that thread I've never done compared to what I had in my WinPC and have in my Android box and I bet that's because of the hardware/OS combination to get the best video quality display/playback and the best out of the hardware right. Normal install of official kodi, kodibuntu and openelec as of now lack of fixes and goodies for some Intel hardware like the Chromebox, that would explain it. The TL;DR would be that the new EGL rendering method saves an additional copy operation per frame displayed, and allows for direct output of the video without color space conversion/scaling, which can introduce banding artifacts. The only settings listed that are Linux/OS-specific are the video acceleration ones, since different renderers/APIs are used compared to Windows (where there is only one, through DirectX) or Android; the rest are applicable across platforms. For the average user, there is no real disadvantage to running the standard Windows or OpenELEC versions; the EGL version is just slightly better, and a preview of what's to come. Very sorry about asking stupid questions like this, but it seems that this happens very occasionally, and I haven't yet invented how to reproduce it. When I do, I'll provide logs. Just wanted to know whether someone else has had this same problem before me. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/11/10] - meyer31 - 2015-11-14 So I ran Install / Update: coreboot Firmware (standalone). I then turned off my chromebox and turned it on, I get no display. My monitor says no signal. Any ideas? Then I tried to go the standalone route and this is when the issue happened. The light comes on the chromebox, the usb light links on my thumb drive. I've tried using HDMI and also displayport to HDMI and neither seem to be working. I've also tried hooking up to my TV and that didn't work either. I have a question regarding the Fritsch Version with Chromebox. Are there any recommended settings for us? I saw a lot of settings in the first comment of the fritsch thread but didnt know if those settings aply for haswell boxes.
