RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/02/25] - wongnog - 2016-02-26

Since upgrading to Kodi v16, one of my video folders always takes a very long time to show thumbnails for each file. I do have over 700 files in this folder, but it's as if the thumbnails are not being cached and re-pulled each time I open the folder. Any suggestions what I should try to fix this?

Well specifically this is on my chromebox. Anybody else experience this?

It has nothing to do with the Chromebox hardware, firmware, or my setup script - it's a software issue, so will be best served by posting in the appropriate software support subforum. Which is what the OP says to do for software issues.

Hi Mat, could you please up this 6.0.198 version the link in the forum is down. I heard that is the most stable for i3 5210 not chromebox.
Thanks in advanced

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/02/25] - -DDD- - 2016-02-27

do yo mean the 199 one?

Edit: Links could be find here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox

mod edit: direct links will invariably end up broken - link to wiki instead

Brilliant! Thanks a lot, Matt. Running happily on my HSW i5 NUC.

May I suggest you provide those builds in a separate thread in the General Support section? Asking, because I would assume that many non-ChromeBox users are interested, too, but might not necessarily search in the Hardware section or the Chromebox Wiki. But whatever you think makes sense. In any case, again, many thanks for these builds. Much appreciated!
no I mean the 198 mentioned in this post. Do you think that the 199 is better? or the 2 are the same version?

they're not the same otherwise the version #s wouldn't be different. 199 is 198 + wifi disable on boot fix. Chromebox wiki is the authoritative source on download links for my builds, which is why I don't like putting direct links in forum posts

Hi im experiencing black screen all of a sudden when i boot. My set up is Asus Chromebox (running Kodi 15.2.. and OpenElec 6.01 Generic x86_64) connected with HDMI to Harman Kardon avr260 which connects to a Sony Bravia tv with HDMI. Used to work fine for a year and then suddenly black screen after boot. The Chromebox boots fine as it is showing online in the remote. It used to work when i turned things on in a sequence but that has started to fail now. Have tried with a Hp Chromebox aswell it has same problem. Both work fine when connected directly to TV.
Have tried the custom xorg.conf file fix from the wiki that crippled my entire system and it couldnt boot anymore, got message about bad file ended up restoring to stock and reloading openelec. All help is appreciated as I am tearing my hair out...

First, start with a fresh install of 6.0.199, since that's the optimal version to use. I'm not sure what xorg you're referring to since there's none in the ChromeBox wiki, but anything on the OE wiki is likely to be out of date. Most likely you just need an autostart.sh file to set the proper resolution and refresh rate on startup since your AVR appears to be making a mess of the EDID info

Yes, there are examples on the Chromebox wiki page, linked in my sig. The one recommended for 4k sets should work for you
