RE: IPTV Merge - Paul608085 - 2023-07-12

Earlier in this thread, there was some discussion about IPTV Merge and IPTV Simple Client not working properly together in Kodi 20.

In post #493 @matthuisman wrote:
"** you now have to manually setup IPTV Simple Client to point to IPTV Merge's output files **
No automation is possible  "

I was having issues at around that time, (not sure if they were related), and Matt's advice then was to revert back to Kodi 19.5. Since doing that I have had very few, and then only minor, problems.

Has that problem been resolved now in Kodi 20, or are people who use IPTV Merge and Simple Client generally still using v19.5?

Is Kodi 20 considered "stable" in this respect now.

I am normally of the mindset: "if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it", but Android TV on our Sony only seems to allow automatic app updating of all apps, or having to manually update every app individually. Manually is what I have been doing for the past 5 months, but it is quite a pain to have to do it regularly, and if I'm not concentrating I have almost accidentally updated Kodi as well a few times. So, there would be an advantage in that respect in moving to v20.

Is the general advice still to remain on v19.5, or is an upgrade/clean re-installation to the latest version, (v20.2 I think?), now considered to be OK?

RE: IPTV Merge - dshorrosh - 2023-07-20

Sorry for piling on especially if I missed a post.

I'm on Nexus 20.2.  I have the Hulu, IP Simple and IP Merge running.  I have a Hauppage OTA card that is functioning properly.  I am using NextPVR server and Kodi Add-On.

I have set numbering in NPVR.

I reset the PVR add-on and reloaded the data.  I ran IP Merge.  Channels looked right, meaning the numbers I assigned in NPVR 'stuck' and Hulu channels were interspersed alphabetically.

I do not see how to re-number the Hulu channels.  I want them to be 100+ grouped by what we use, then alpha, then sports, then news.

Kodi was not cooperating so I restarted.  All of the work described above (PVR add-on, IP Merge, etc) is lost.  Also, one of the OTA channels has disappeared.

How can I save the setting so I'm not starting over every time and how do I set numbering?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I missed this elsewhere.  I can post this under NPVR if that's the right place.

i cant control the channel numbering / ordering you do via Kodis channel manager - if that doesnt "stick" - thats a kodi bug and you need to open an issue about that for them.

If you made changes via IPTV Merge > Manage TV then that data should persist as long as you don't wipe Kodis addon userdata
You could backup the IPTV Merge userdata folder once OK so if you do delete that data - you can get it back

Got it, thanks for the explanation.

Hey Matt, since I dont see a support thread for Plex Live, I will ask here. Is there a known issue with Plex live IPTV Merge? That is the only addon that fails with IPTV merge. Shows up as red in IPTV merge. Stirr, Samsung, and Pluto are green and good to go. Manage TV/Plex Live comes up with -No Items-. Thanks!!

I have forgot to hit “ok” in Kodi channel manager and Kodi did not save the data after the next restart. It seems you may have done the same.

RE: IPTV Merge - dshorrosh - 2023-08-05

I have the Hulu addon to Kodi running on a 2nd Raspberry Pi, and I just installed IP Merge to Kodi following instructions to the letter, but the EPG for Live TV only shows the OTA channels from NextPVR.  When I go to the IP Merge addon > Manage TV, 'All Channels' displays '~ No Items ~'.  I ran IPTV Simple and ran multiple merges but no dice.  Am I missing a step?

NextPVR + Hulu + IP Merge works great on my other Kodi installs running on a Raspberry Pi and a Win10 PC.

RE: IPTV Merge - matthuisman - 2023-08-05

Did you add Hulu as an iptv merge source? Is it logged in? To into playlists in iptv merge and then to the Hulu entry. It'll tell you any errors

RE: IPTV Merge - dshorrosh - 2023-08-05

Doh!  That loud pop you heard was me pulling my head out.

Thanks for the help.

RE: IPTV Merge - ClarkKent781115 - 2023-08-14

Hi

Just wanted to know if it is possible to get the EPG string for DStv Now, I have a legit DSTV account so I am logged in.

To explain, I use Kodi on Windows 10 OS, I usually like to configure my m3u files myself so that I can navigate more easy when I IPTV Merge it on Kodi. As most know, the normal IPTV layout in the m3u for IPTV is :

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="EPG ID" tvg-name="Channel name" tvg-logo="http location of channel logo" group-title="Channel Group Name",Channel Name
http://ServiceProvider:8080/Username/password/*.mkv

Is there a way to extract/get this string format from the "DStv Now" add-on? So that I can organize or customize the way channels are displayed on Simple IPTV PVR?

RE: IPTV Merge - matthuisman - 2023-08-14

just use IPTV merge, add the DSTV now addon to it. Then copy the output from the generated M3U8 file that IPTV merge creates

RE: IPTV Merge - ClarkKent781115 - 2023-08-14

Thanks for your feedback, Sorry this might sound silly, but where do I find that m3u8 generated file?

RE: IPTV Merge - matthuisman - 2023-08-15

by default it outputs it to the iptv merge addon userdata directory
You can change the output path in the addon settings if desired

RE: IPTV Merge - ClarkKent781115 - 2023-08-15

Thank you, it worked!!!

I'm wondering, is there a custom action that can be used to add PVR Live TV Search results into a Global Search?

I have Arctic Fuse as my default skin if that helps, I know I can add it through a custom action in the search options, but I just need help figuring out exactly the function to type into that custom action..
