Also the last time I tried the builds, estuary was at the very beginning stage and had a lot of bugs and a lot unfinished skinning. Just wondering how it looks now.

I'm still running 15.2 egl. Considering an upgrade, I don't know.

I've been running LE8.0 since they have been building and I think it's very stable. I update about once every other week myself. I had growing pains with Estuary but I am used to it now. There is also an Estuary mod out there that I have been playing with http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=267343. Not to mention, if you use backup to get a copy before you move over you can always downgrade.

I have set my Chromebox up exactly how I want it - now is there a way to do a full clone to another Chromebox?

you can always clone the OS / ssd, but whatever firmware-related changes were made will still need to be manually done first. And with OE/LE, there's a built-in backup function that you can use to copy your config to another machine.

Will the OE/LE built-in backup function copy EVERYTHING to the new CB?

No, just userdata. You'd need to install the OS first, then restore the backed-up data

@matt Devo,
Is there a way to make seabios follow this scenario:
1. At boot look if there's any USB Device. If no - try to boot from the internal SSD.
2. If any - try to boot from the first. If no success - try to boot from the next one. If no success with the last one - try to boot from the internal SSD.
3. Wait 60 sec and reboot.

I'd like to manage this process without a keyboard.
The part in bold is absent now.

Thank you in advance.

Worked like a champ - thx

unfortunately not, given that SeaBIOS handles external usb-attached devices the same as internal storage. If the selected/default boot device fails, there's no way to roll over to another device of the same type/class. Best it can do is fall back to a floppy image, cd/dvd drive, or PXE payload

Ok, let's leave several USB devices alone.
Can you make it to do fall back to the internal SSD?

no, because ssd and usb are treated the same. Regardless of which has priority, it won't fall back to the other. If you want the (very long) technical explanation as to why, I can try and dig up some links

Thank you for the explanation.
Seems now I understand.
Your setting "Always boot from USB" changes the order of the devices connected.
And there's no way to change this order without reflashing, am I right?

Sad but true.
It would be very convenient: if you insert an SD-card with OpenElec - it boots, if no - Windows boots from the internal SSD. And an external HDD connected in the both cases Sad

correct, the bootorder cannot be changed without reflashing. Sounds like a custom bootorder would be what you need.

Im having a very strange problem with my Asus Chromebox, which i haven't actually touched since i set it up a year ago. The sound which goes to and comes from my TV is extremely tinny. The TV itself has perfect sound and i have changed the HDMI lead but its made no difference. I have Openelec on it and its set to auto-update but there were long periods were it wasn't used. Wondering if something has changed in the past while which i have missed.

You haven't provided anywhere near enough info to even begin to troubleshoot the issue - see the OP for what's needed when reporting an issue. But it certainly doesn't sound like an issue of simply being "out of date"

Hi Matt,

I'm trying to switch from standalone to dual boot on my Dell Chromebox. I'm following the instructions here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox#Resetting_to_Stock

I am able to open the Firmware Utility script and select option 7) Restore Stock Firmware

I do not have a firmware backup file, so I select my model Dell 3010, but then I get the following error:

Failure reading current firmware; cannot proceed.

What can I do from here?
