It's currently on version 2016-03-07 with OpenELEC 6 and Kodi 15.2. He watches live streams of Vietnamese channels on a kodi addon. After some time has past of opening and closing streams to see whats on. He will come to a point where he opens a stream and the small loading window on the center of the tv will appear, the stream will start, but the loading window will stay frozen in the center of the tv. No inputs will register on the wireless keyboard or the remote control. He will have to manually reset the Chromebox. It's been happening for the past 1 to 2 months. Any suggestions on this error? RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/04/26] - mabo - 2016-06-05 Hi, i have an ASUS Chromebox running KODI. Is there any way to disable USB 3 and use USB 2 as USB driver? I want to use a TV stick (Sundtek Sky TV ultimate) that won´t work properly with USB 3 (Sundtek devs also claim that USB 3 has some flaws under linux) Thanks for you response. My dad also has an Amlogic Android box with Kodi installed using the same addon and that hasn't had the same loading error. He doesn't use any other addons often enough to see if the freezing issue occurs elsewhere, but it regularly happens after about an hour of use. USB3 support is mature enough at this point to where most issues are with the driver, not the subsystem. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/04/26] - sysenhance - 2016-06-06 Hello. New to the Chromebox and this may not be the proper place to post. I was trying to install FreePBX on the Asus Chromebox. Followed the instructions above for a stand alone installation of a Linux distro, but encountered a problem during installation. I flashed the BIOS to the coreboot/SEABIOs by Matt Devillier which has disabled all the recovery stuff. I have really bricked the Asus. Power light indicates it's on, but nothing else. No video output, no signs of life! If I could just get it to boot from a stick I would be fine, but no such luck! Anyone have suggestions or shall I just chuck it in the bin? Too bad, these things would make great little PBXs for small business!! Thanks very much for any suggestions!! SeaBIOS will boot up in VESA text mode to show the boot menu, but you may not be seeing it if your boot media isn't being recognized. I'd try with another usb/SD if you haven't already RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/04/26] - jeffjoker - 2016-06-07 .. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/04/26] - Natural Sound - 2016-06-07 Hi Guys, new member here so please go easy on me. I have done a lot of research on this subject but I'm kind of confused at this point. I may have more than one problem. Here is my situation. I bought a ASUS Chromebox (Celeron) late last year around Christmas. I prepared the box and installed a dual boot Chrome/OpenElec system using the EZ Setup script and set up the box to the recommended settings. (Running OpenELEC 6.0 / Kodi 15.2 (stable: 6.0.398-Intel_EGL) and the stock firmware. I had problems right off the bat when streaming video. It would play for a while and then I'd get stuttering video (almost like slow motion) and the audio would drop out. If I paused it for a few seconds and then hit play again it would work for a while. This was with WiFi. Thinking that I had a network issue I plugged the box directly into my router. It seemed a little better but the problem persisted especially with HD content, SD tended to work OK. I tried a bunch of recommendations that I found on this forum but nothing seemed to work. I kind of got frustrated and gave up for a while. Now I'm interested in getting this thing going again. One of the tips I found recommended disabling hardware acceleration. I did that and it appears that most of the stuttering is gone. I feel like I made a lot of progress. Yet the underlying question is, why doesn't the hardware acceleration work? And does it really matter? I also notice that OpenElec has been replaced with LibreElec. I'm wondering, should I pursue an upgrade? Will this allow me to use hardware acceleration? If so can I perform an upgrade using the EZ Setup or must I upgrade by USB? If it is the latter then I will probably have some more questions. Thanks in advance. -Tom |
