RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - Matt Devo - 2016-07-22 (2016-07-22, 05:24)tvdude Wrote: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script how come it installs Kryton? We want Jarvis 16.1. I dont think anybody likes the ugly Krypton interface. Cam I make it install Karvis 16.1? because you told it to; the default is to install LibreELEC 7.0.2 / Kodi 16.1. Either way, you can still install the Confluence skin from the Kodi repository if you're not a fan of Estuary. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - tvdude - 2016-07-22 3.1 OS and Kodi Installation Kodi can be installed on the ChromeBox in a variety of ways. The two most common are via OpenELEC or Ubuntu+Kodi, in either a standalone or dual boot configuration. This is accomplished via the ChromeBox E-Z Setup script, which must be run (at least initially) from ChromeOS. I was told that I made it install Krypton. I used the following info, It never mentions krypton. How do I fix it to install Jarvis. The EZ setup script will facilitate everything needed to install either a dual boot setup, or install a custom firmware which allows the installation of any Linux-based OS in standalone mode. To run the ChromeBox E-Z Setup script, perform the following steps: Power on and boot to ChromeOS. Do not log in, but ensure a network connection is established. Hit [CTRL][ALT][F2] to open a command prompt ([CTRL][ALT][<--] for ChromeOS keyboards) Login with user chronos (no password required) Download and run the ChromeBox setup script using the following two commands (hit enter after typing each command): curl -L -O http://mrchromebox.tech/setup-kodi.sh sudo bash setup-kodi.sh RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - Matt Devo - 2016-07-22 (2016-07-22, 05:44)tvdude Wrote: 3.1 OS and Kodi Installation I don't see any mention of either Jarvis or Krypton -- what's your question exactly? When you run the script and select one of the LibreELEC install options, you're prompted which version you'd like to install - with the default being the current stable version RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - tvdude - 2016-07-22 Oh I will try it again ! But how do I updated this? Tried the line curl - L -O etc in a ssh commander. But nothing? Edit: ok found the answer I have to create a live usb Linux OS. Hmzzz don't like this solution. But I guess you have your reasons for it. You cannot run the Kodi E-Z Setup Script under Open/LibreELEC - if you want to update the firmware (which you don't need to do unless there's an issue that's stated as resolved under the changelog) then you need to do it from a live USB (eg, GalliumOS or Ubuntu) RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - nickr - 2016-07-22 Download the jarvis version of le and perform the usual le update procedure. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - D-an-W - 2016-07-22 Thanks for the continued updates Matt "Mr. Chromebox" Devo I know your of the "If it aint broke..." camp but I do like to be up to date as do others I am sure! With that in mind, once booted from Ubuntu USB do I run the Firmware Utility Script and choose option 3 to update my standalone install running the Millhouse LibreELEC builds? Code: cd; curl -L -O http://mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh && sudo bash firmware-util.sh RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - Matt Devo - 2016-07-22 (2016-07-22, 23:29)D-an-W Wrote: Thanks for the continued updates Matt "Mr. Chromebox" Devo you can update using either the Kodi E-Z Setup Script or the ChromeOS Firmware Utility Script; the latter is a bit fancier (gives system info/firmware info) and has more options but either will work for simply updating the standalone firmware RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - cirrusly_fast - 2016-07-23 Hello all. I need some help. I need it dumbed down quite a bit too. I have looked at the wiki pages and reviews the original post on this thread and I still can't get to where I want to be. First off, I'm running a chromebox CN60 with openelec. My goal is to switch to libreelec. I'm not sure if I'm in standalone or dual, but when the unit is turned on, it boots right to Kodi. I cannot use the system reset button as it does not seem to work, which makes me believe I'm in standalone mode. I've tried booting up and pressing esc, but nothing happens. I have tried ctrl d and ctrl l without success. If a press ctrl alt f2 I get a Kodi disappears and I get a black screen. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong, What I need to download and how to install it. Again, I'm knowledgeable to do many things, but I'm rusty and need some help. Thank you to any and everyone who offers help and advise. You're running a standalone setup/firmware, based on the recovery button not working. Upgrading from OE to LE is the same as updating OE or LE -- download the LibreELEC 7.0.x update file (link on wiki page) and do a manual update as per the wiki instructions (ie, copy the .tar file into the 'update' folder on the Chromebox and reboot). The key sequences CTRL+D, CTRL+L, CTRL-ALT-F2 are all applicable only to the stock ChromeOS firmware, which you don't have. Pressing ESC for the boot menu applies only when you have another boot device attached (ie, a USB installer), but you don't need that unless you want to do a clean install. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - cirrusly_fast - 2016-07-23 Ok so I downloaded the LibreElec 7.0 from the wiki 3.3.1 section link. I extracted it to a usb stick. From this point is where I'm lost. From a first startup, what do I do? Do I already have the usb inserted? Judging by your post above, pressing any keys won't do anything. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - Matt Devo - 2016-07-23 (2016-07-23, 03:59)cirrusly_fast Wrote: Ok so I downloaded the LibreElec 7.0 from the wiki 3.3.1 section link. I extracted it to a usb stick. OE/LE* use different downloads for updating (copy to update folder and reboot) and fresh installs (boot from USB installer). Since you downloaded the update file (.tar), you need to copy it to the update folder on the Chromebox and reboot, not extract it to USB and boot it (this will not work). You can copy the update file to USB and then copy it to the update folder using Kodi's built-in file manager, or you can simply copy it via OE/LE's network share; instructions for the latter are linked on the wiki page. *LE has moved to using a single type of file for the installer and updates, but since you're coming from OE, you still need to use the older update file format. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/07/19] - cirrusly_fast - 2016-07-23 Ok, I'll give it a try. Thank you Matt for your time and help.
