RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - darby427 - 2017-01-02 I had check for updates set to auto - booted into kodi (hadn't used it in a few weeks) just told me an update was available to libreELEC - I was thinking there would be something I could go to to apply the update, but I couldnt find anything.. ended up watching a movie and the update noticed appeared a few times.. couldnt figure it out, but then I power cycled the Chromebox and then the update was automatic. found this video https://libreelec.tv/2016/12/libreelec-jarvis-v7-0-3-mr/ and all is well.. learned something today! RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - DominicQc - 2017-01-02 Hello, I had a previous (quite old something like 2 years) dual boot set-up on my Chromebox and I had some issue due to a hard reboot and I just tried to re-install a new dual boot set-up with your script. I used option 1 for dual boot install with option 1 (Install: ChromeOS + GalliumOS (dual boot)) Then I changed the boot option using the cript as well to start from Kodi directly. Problem: The chromebox now boots directly in GalliumOS.. I actually have no clue how to access Kodi. Please help! Why did you choose GalliumOS if you didn't want / know how to use Linux? If you want a Kodi appliance, use LibreELEC RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - DominicQc - 2017-01-02 (2017-01-02, 21:57)Matt Devo Wrote:(2017-01-02, 21:50)DominicQc Wrote: Hello, Thanks for your quick reply. Ok got it. I should have chosen the LibreELEC option. Can I still re-install it directly with LibreELEC or do I need to do a factory reset or something now? By the way, now that it is running OK from GalliumOS, is there any performance gain from running Kodi from LibreElec instead of GalliumOS you think? Can I still re-install it directly with LibreELEC or do I need to do a factory reset or something now? yes, you can re-run the EZ Setup Script from ChromeOS and simply choose the LibreELEC option. LibreELEC will give you the absolute best Kodi platform, as the OS is tailored towards one thing and one thing only (running Kodi). I recommend using the latest version offered by the script (7.90.010) as it has significant benefits over the older Kodi 16-based release (LE 7.0.x) RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - DominicQc - 2017-01-03 (2017-01-02, 22:16)Matt Devo Wrote:(2017-01-02, 22:14)DominicQc Wrote: Thanks for your quick reply. I just installed LibreELEC as you recommended. The installation seemed successful. However Kodi doesn't load and I am stuck on the screen: SeaBIOS (version rel-1.10.0-6-g3f40bbd-MrChromebox-2016.11.07) Booting from Hard Disk... Do you have any idea how to solve this? Thanks!!! However now after reboot I am stuck on a black screen with white and yello text and a command line saying: Shell> Kodi does not boot and I am afraid I made it all worst now. Could you please advise me on what to try now? I did make a backup on USB during your scrip but I dont know how to use it.. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - waldo98 - 2017-01-03 Is it possible to update the firmware to the latest version while still retaining the existing installation of LibreELEC? I was able to update my Haswell Chromebox from OpenELEC to LibreELEC a few days ago by just dropping the update file into the Update folder and rebooting my device. Now, I'm running LibreELEC 7.0.3 and it's leaps and bounds better than OpenELEC. However, I'm still on one of the older SeaBIOS firmware and I'd like to take advantage of the UEFI firmware and all of it's improvements. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - Matt Devo - 2017-01-03 (2017-01-03, 23:14)waldo98 Wrote: Is it possible to update the firmware to the latest version while still retaining the existing installation of LibreELEC? no, you can't migrate an existing Legacy BIOS install to UEFI. There's also no reason to given how easy it is to backup/update firmware/reinstall/restore LE userdata RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - waldo98 - 2017-01-03 (2017-01-03, 23:18)Matt Devo Wrote:(2017-01-03, 23:14)waldo98 Wrote: Is it possible to update the firmware to the latest version while still retaining the existing installation of LibreELEC? Understood. Thank you again for all of your contributions into the Chromebox! RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - Timewalker - 2017-01-04 Matt, I was setting up my third Chromebox as a standalone LibreELEC box, and everything went smoothly, except I chose USB under boot priority and I need to change it back to the hard disk. (It is trying to boot from my external hard drive every time it boots up.) I tried to run the setup script from a Lubuntu flash drive, but I keep getting an error after it downloads that I don't have permission to run the script. I tried it as a regular user and after setting myself as SU for the terminal session. Is it the distro? Should I download another Ubuntu? (I thought I had used this flash drive on my first install when I had to make a change and run the script again, but it's been awhile.) Thanks. RE: ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2016/10/12] - Matt Devo - 2017-01-04 (2017-01-04, 17:30)Timewalker Wrote: Matt, that's a bizarre error I haven't seen before, but there's no reason Lubuntu shouldn't work. Also, if you're just setting up a new box now, I thought it should be defaulting to the new UEFI firmware, not the older legacy firmware, so the USB boot option isn't relevant anymore |
