RE: [RELEASE] trakt.tv tv/movie scrobbler - wgstarks - 2013-08-04

I'm having a problem where a lot of my movies keep getting flagged as "Watched". I keep changing the flags but after the next sync they all change back. I'm not sure if trakt addon is doing this but I see some settings that suggest it may be. Does trakt update my xbmc data to match the online data?

Is there some way to update or just completely delete the online database. It's somewhat less than accurate as far as the watched status goes and I would like to correct that.

RE: [RELEASE] trakt.tv tv/movie scrobbler - MeMeMe - 2013-08-04

You can stop XBMC updating the playcounts from trakt tv.

In the trakt addon's configuration settings, go to the Synchronize tab.
Under Movies, uncheck Update XBMC Movie Playcounts.
Under TV Episodes, uncheck Update XBMC TV Episode Playcounts.

----

I find the trakt synching useful for keeping different clients in synch, or being able to restore my play history after a a database wipe. Here's what you need to do if you want to keep using that aspect of the plugin.

If you want to delete the entire trakt.tv database, contact their support. They will delete it for you, and the plugin will rebuild your data next time you run it.

If there are only a few episodes and movies that are incorrect, you can delete the watched status manually in the website. But it's tedious, you have to go to the history tab, and find each movie and episode you want to delete, and click the cross in the top right. You'll get a warning, just click yes, do it.

Then check that the watched status is correct in xbmc.

Make sure both trakt website and xbmc are showing the watched statuses you want, before you use the synching aspect of the plugin again, and they'll stay in synch from then on.

Hi, I think I have pegged this issue to trakt, here is the sequence of events:

Open XBMC, trakt script error.
First vid I open in my lib, movie or TV show, starts juddering and going slow (I think trakt is re kicking in). I have to stop the video, takes a few seconds to go back to episode select. Select ep again, no more juddering or going slow for any other video after on that session.

Paste here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5953031/

trakt is functioning of course, but an addon affecting playabck needs to be fixed.

Looking through your log, it seems the service plugin is starting twice, no idea why that's happening.

The access violation error you're getting happens on the 2nd instance of the plugin, only reason I can think of for this is because its being run a second time. But not sure on that completely. I do remember someone else had the access violation error earlier in the thread, and a clean reinstall of XBMC fixed it.

As for the plugin affecting playback, it doesn't, I have a feeling its related to the previous 2 points. The only reason I'm saying this is because I know it works on Raspberry Pi without causing problems which is probably one of the slowest platforms it could be run on, that and there would be a lot more complaints if it was.

I've read through your entire log file, and there's nothing glaringly obvious that could be causing any issues.

Reinstalling xbmc just for a plugin gone rogue? come on there has to be a better way. I have tried doing as an xbmc dev suggest to some other guy, deleting everything to do with trakt and starting again. Bit it doesn't fix it.

Trakt is almost crashing XBMC with something. With this log I entered movies, updated library and saw the syncing movies notifications and nothing more. It freezes but after a while it starts working again.
After that I entered TV Shows and it got very slow and hanging almost every 10 seconds just by browsing back and forth.
Using the 2.3.0 plugin, would try the 2.4.0 if I could find a way to get it.

Looking through your log, it took around 40 seconds to retrieve your movie collection and seen list. After this, it took another ~16 seconds to add 34 new movies to your collection, altho, these were skipped, it seems you have some malformed meta-data (missing IMDB ids). After those, it also updated play counts for 121 movies in your XBMC library based on trakt.tv seen status. Now, this last part is what takes a while due to needing to make 1 JSON RPC call per movie (even tho it batches 50 at a time) the plugin has zero control over this, so if it has to update a lot of play counts in XBMC, unfortunately, its going to take it some time. Based on the frequency of the update calls, it was taking between 12 to 40 (or more) for each update call and it only got through 13 of the 121 updates it needed to do before being aborted.

So, while it may have looked like it was crashing, it wasn't. Also, the slow down would have been because of the constant DB updates it was trying to do.

As for trying the 2.4.0 version, you can download a zip of it directly from github.

There's an underlying problem somewhere, it was a suggestion based on previous experience someone else had. Just trying to help.

Not much else I can say I've looked through your log as much as I can, and the biggest issue is the plugin being started twice, this should never happen, and its not something the plugin will do itself, as the service part of it is something XBMC would start.

Aside from that and the crashing of the second instance, the remainder of it seems to be behaving as normal, based on log entries. Everything this plugin does is in separate threads so in theory it should not effect any other thread (XBMC itself, playback, etc).

I noticed you have an autoexec.py in your userdata folder, is there anything trakt related in this script? (Just tossing out thoughts)

When you removed the plugin, you deleted the script.trakt folder in userdata/addon_data as well? Did you start XBMC with the plugin removed (or disabled) to see if there were any problems?

Did this just start happening? What changed?

So each time it "froze" it just updated DB? Going to let it run for a while now and see what happens.

RE: [RELEASE] trakt.tv tv/movie scrobbler - N3MIS15 - 2013-08-09

@perern, your "freezing" issue is caused by the XBMC json api command used for syncing. Its something that has been brought to the XBMC teams attention various times but there has been no resolution as of yet. It should only be an issue when syncing the watched status for the first time. After that its pretty much non existent.

This post sums up what the issue is. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=166567&pid=1438120#pid1438120

RE: [RELEASE] trakt.tv tv/movie scrobbler - Death-Axe - 2013-08-09

Deleting that auto exec (which for some reason had two lines, one for starting trakt and one for share the tv, the second one has not been installed for moons) seems to have solved the video issue.

Further testing is required of course, I'll let you know.

Thank you for the help :-)

RE: [RELEASE] trakt.tv tv/movie scrobbler - Skank - 2013-08-09

Question:

Im on frodo 12.2
Using latest trakt version addon

Since my genres are fucked up: i have some genres in 2 languages... Like "action" and "actie"(dutch)

I want to try to begin from start again..

Im also running a mysql database..

Now what is the best way to start over and keep my watched status? Or isntthat possible?
