I quite like the new view, there is only one thing I would want added, and that is to see the number of episodes for each series in the tv shows view. :-)

I am also curious if you will add the ability to display smart playlists on the main menu? That is a feature I want, but do not really want to add mods that also put in other stuff.

I find the Confluence theme quite attractive, but there was one reason I preferred the (now-unsupported) vertical version better than the horizontal one: the buttons on the main screen don't race away from the mouse cursor. This is a serious usability problem because just when I'm about to click the mouse button on my remote, the button I want to hit races to the left or the right and I wind up clicking the wrong thing.

It seems like the less frustrating behavior here would be something like what Boxee did in that there is an invisible "virtual" image map containing ALL buttons that fits on one screen and doesn't change, with the visual display of the button bar moving to the left or the right as the user moves the mouse cursor such that the button under the mouse cursor is associated with whichever action would be taken were the user to click at that moment. This is similar to what Apple's dock does, except that I'm picturing the button bar side-scrolling instead of being magnified under the mouse cursor, but the spirit is the same.

Thoughts?

I like the clean corners very much and the search results are veerry nice.
Please bring multi-image backgrounds for the home screen back though... Please. It really makes it much nicer when it's idle and the movie/TV fanart flips by. I have folders full of thousands of select images just for this feature. It really brings it to life. Please bring it back. An opacity setting for the menu would be great too. Something like a screensaver that just dims the menu, while the fanart stays bright and continues its slide show. I'm just saying, I like the fan art.

I like keeping the same look all the way. The only reason I may not be able to use it is because the font still does not work that good on my tv. Hopefully soon I wont have to worry about that, but is it possible to make a large bold font option like transparency

When upgrading to "Eden" I was very disappointed to see the small size of the the thumbs in thumbnails view. I'm considering a downgrade to get the larger thumbs back. But now it looks like you are bringing back larger thumbs and I love you for that man!!!
Now to the big question. How can I get my hands on this version with the larger thumbs?

2 ways either update to the nightly builds of XBMC or download the separate skin from here https://code.google.com/p/jezzxbmc/downloads/detail?name=skin.confluence_lite.zip

but the larger thumbs are only in Movies and seasons (and tv shows if you use posters)

Any way you could restore the recently added thumbs to the main page when TV SHOWS and MOVIES are disabled leaving them as sub menus under VIDEOS?

I really like the direction that this new version of Confluence is heading in but I do hope that the option to make the home screen VIDEO option go straight to File view gets put back in. I use the TV and Movie libs for my collection but then I use the Video option to go straight to file view for my download dir and other random samba shares. Having the option to use both was always what kept me using Confluence.

I use the file mod for my downloads, podcasts/vidcasts and many other misc items
like shortcuts to many radio stations I set backdrops and thumbnails too.

I've noticed some funky drop shadows with both of the post-Eden nightlies I've tried (20120519 & 20120604). I don't recall ever seeing this before in XBMC. It's a tiny quirk, but if anyone has any ideas for trouble shooting it, I'd appreciate it. (Graphics card is an Nvidia GT430.)

The font thing is just not skin related but its due too how XBMC handles font rendering

As for the view sure its nice but its not real different from some of the others and I hate just a piling on features "just because" as when it comes to the day I don't like one people complain when I revert it or take it out Smile

Now to everyone else the "Videos always goes to files" I'm strongly thinking about putting that back in because seems more people use it than first thought or maybe its just the vocal few Huh
