RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - gdachs - 2015-07-15

I have a strange issue with deinterlacing of live TV. I am viewing Servus HD, one of the few free senders with 1080i I can receive. Deinterlacing is set to auto and I use Motion compensation. My understanding is that auto will recognize automatically that this signal has to be deinterlaced. Viewing the picture I have no doubt that deinterlacing is happening. It looks great. If I am right then there should nothing change the picture on this channel if I change deinterlacing from auto to active, as it should be already activated by auto. But if I set deinterlacing from auto to active then I get a solid green picture. If I change to inactive, or to auto, the picture of the channel is back.

Does this mean deinterlacing is broken and in reality I get no deinterlacing on auto? Did I missunderstood something? Or is there only a bug with the active setting?

This issue lets me really puzzled.

Gerald

I think there is a bug with the Active setting. I try to look into it. If FernetMenta reads here - perhaps he beats me too it before that.

Thanks for your report.

So - I don't see those as heavily as you do. When you disable Lanczos3 Optimized - they should still be there, right?

Yes, burosch is a lot worse and yes, it is happening independently from Lanczos3 Optimized.
MADI shows less artifacts then MCDI though.

Which version of the driver is in your provided image?
As I see it has just been recently fixed for IVB, but maybe not completely?

All that is needed is in. See 1.6.0 Branch of vaapi driver.

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/vaapi/intel-driver/log/ <- we use 1.6.0

just wondering with all the work put in vaapi if the picture quality is the same compared to a nvidia/radeon build ?
or if the hdmi connectors are better quality on a gpu instead of onboard ? intel nuc mini hdmi to hdmi adapter Sad

VGA onboard? are you kidding? Digital -> Analog -> Digital on Fullhd @ 60hz? VGA sucks starting with a resolution > 1280x1024. This latter question has nothing to do with the implementation here anyways.

With this intel method, we have the maximum of control about the decoded data. With dithering on top, we can output full range without banding. So: it won't get better - rest is "post processing" discussion.

I think you are still kidding me. HDMI is a digital signal ...

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - fritsch - 2015-07-17

If your remove the kodi.bin from the autostart file, does the xserver alone come up?

Try that please and get me: DISPLAY=:0 glxinfo | pastebinit

I see a very strange kernel error on your side - can you try with the shipped 3.19 kernel of Vivid?

OpenELEC from USB stick works?
