Some really impressive changes you have implemented, especially the manage custom home items... this makes it so much easier to select a preset item. Not so sure about the backgrounds being under this setting though. I prefer it under it's own menu like before. As it is, I can't seem to get the global background to work? Any chance this could be put back under it's own menu item as it worked flawlessly before?

@redhalo -- yeah, its just an unfortunate side effect for pre-existing users in making that category customisable. The settings for it are set when the skin initialises and I didn't want to force an initialisation of the skin for pre-existing users because that would set everything back to default. However, now that you bring it up, I realise that I forgot to add a weather preset for the items so I will add that in tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up about changes to pseudo tv live. Live is what I'm working on (got the epg finished currently) -- but I'll look into the planned changes before I continue.

The skin gets better and better
Convenient presets: database cleanup and add music/movie and the music-video!
Adding the aeon nox pictures for me was not necessary. I don't like them.
Continue developing it is the best skin right now.

When I try to install via zip XBMC hangs, when I restart version 0.42 emerges.

I also think the Aeon Nox pictures are unnecessary, sorry to have to say this. The skin looked less cluttered without them

Kinda biggish bug. If I customize a menu tab to give it a different purpose than original, like say making the pictures tab into a music videos one, the widgets still list the original predefined tab name on them.

Artic is marked broken in Frodo for me. I installed the 4 prerequisites but I can't get it to install.

@everyone -- I've removed the aeon-nox backgrounds for 0.5.1 - as a side-effect the sys info widget will not have any images to display in the slideshow so it will just have a black border in the space. You can set the slideshow path yourself by reselecting the sys-info widget for a category - you will then get a pop-up asking if you want to set a slideshow -- select 'slideshow' to set the path for it, or you can choose 'clear' and it will remove the slideshow path and slide the info over to the left.

Not currently because livetv needs a special submenu. In the future I will add an additional custom menu that is available when no pvr addons are enabled.

Thanks. Yeah I know what you mean. I'm still figuring out something for this as there is now no space in skin settings for the additional category - I might make it a pop-up dialog. re: global -- I knew I forgot something! Check latest git (0.5.1) -- click on favourites (in the customisation window) and you can set the global background.

Thanks! Good idea about database cleanup. I will add that as a preset along with update library and music-video. I'm not sure what you mean by music/movie ??

Git version is not meant to be available for install via zip. If you are downloading the zip from github then make sure you delete the old skin.arctic folder from the xbmc's addon directory (on linux it is ~/.xbmc/addons/skin.arctic on windows %APPDATA%\XBMC\addons\skin.arctic). Then unzip the new one to that directory. Even better is to install git and git clone it into the addons dir then use git pull in the directory when updates are available.

Yeah after a bit of use I agree so I've removed them.

Usually its something I miss with simple not panel. Should be fixed in 0.5.1

How are you trying to install the skin? Git clone, zip or repo?

Hi Jurial,

Thanks for removing the Aeon Nox pics, for some reason they just didn't look right in your excellent skin.

Thanks also for looking at the Global background isue, it's still not as easy to set as the original menu item but I realize this is WIP and as such things break and get moved around.

Not sure this is intentional but the Weather item on the main menu (which was missing) now appears to say Custom (not Weather) with no option to set it to show weather? Can we have this back to show the Weather as default?

I've also noticed a few bugs with the OSD - when setting Video Information to 'On Screen'......

If I press pause on my remote, I get this...

Which is how it should be. But if I press OK on my remote, I get this....

The menu is really hard to see and there is no other on-screen info displayed. If I press pause on this screen, I get this....

Again, I don't think this looks right? Lastly, if I highlight the 'i' on the OSD and press OK it does nothing? It used to display the info accordingly.

All in all, really impressed with the updates... thanks and keep it up

@blondeshanks -- check latest git. I just forgot to add a weather preset to the items (also added an update library, clean library and music video preset). Also you can use the 'custom' item from the selection of items (its at the very bottom right) to set it to what ever action you want. First keyboard dialog is path -- e.g. ActivateWindow(weather) -- and second dialog is the label -- e.g. Weather.

@blondeshanks & @deletedpenguin -- (re: onscreen osd) -- check latest git, should be fixed now for the most part. There's still a few minor bugs with pressing up/down that I've got to sort out, but in general it should work properly now.

@locomot1f -- I'm not sure what you mean? I just made it so that the weather menu item is no longer hard-coded to be weather so that it could be customised to whatever people like (and have its own submenu). If you want it to be weather you just go to 'manage custom home items' click on that main menu category, choose configure and select the weather item for it. Same thing goes for the widget.

The only reason it disappears on the update is because the properties are not set for it and I didn't want to force a re-intialisation on everyone because then everyone would lose their existing settings.

Hey Jurial, just noticed that, when playing music, I can't access the options setting when hitting the info button and turning off the scrolling text doesn't seem to have any effect. I also discovered a colour overlay, but don't see anywhere to toggle that as an option? Personally, I'd prefer to see the fanart.
