RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - tudstudent - 2012-12-31

u2 of course (and everybody else on this forum)

Tomorrow I will try to bring the ipod back in facvtory state (full erase) and see if it might be caused by the Ipod.
Otherwise I think we need to look for the problem @htpc

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Glorious1 - 2013-01-01

Happy New Year to you also Joe, and many thanks for an awesome app!

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - BigAAC - 2013-01-01

Trying the iPad app out but when I try to switch on the 'announce these services to other systems via Zeroconf' I get an error

Is apples bonjour service installed?

Pretty sure this is preventing me from using it but not sure how to fix it?!?

EDIT: Ok figured that our by installing Bonhour print services. it now switches on in XBMC and the remote seems to recognice it now (the descroiption, host and IP all turn blue) but then nothing

any ideas Huh

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - rahnlys - 2013-01-01

Happy New Year Joe,

I have the libraries installed on my install of XBMC. I use the Movies, TV and Music libraries to view and access the content on XBMC. A couple of other points that may help diagnose the problem..

1) The music library on the remote has all of the album and artist information in it, however when you click on an album there are no files to display. I have refreshed the music and video libraries. Likewise the movie and TV info has the genre info but none of the underlying files that sit under it.

2)I can access the XBMC shared libraries on 8player and play them to the XBMC installs so the XBMC libraries and IP interface looks like it is working correctly.

I am on holidays for the next couple of weeks - let me know if you would like me to send in a log or undertake any other diagnosis?

Thanks.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - amcfarla - 2013-01-01

I discovered an issue tonight with viewing the movies section on my XBMC remote depending on what OS platform I am using. I am running XBMC V12 RC2 on all my XBMC devices, and I have made sure the source file is correct on all of them and pointing to my NAS device. I am using MySQL database for all the XBMC machines in my house, which each is using the same advancedsettings file. I have discovered though on two of the three they are displaying my movies correctly, yet my Mac Mini is not. The following images are from my iPhone for each device, when in my movies:

Windows 7 XBMC:

XBMCbuntu XBMC:

Mac Mini XBMC:

I have also tried it on my iPad XBMC remote app also, and getting the same results. Yet TV shows will show up on all three of them without an issue. I have also went to the IP address in a browser for my Mac mini (192.168.1.x:8080) and the movies show up on the browser window, so it is working using a web browser, just not on the remote app. Any ideas, because I didn't have this issue with Eden version of XBMC? Thank you.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - xmhd - 2013-01-01

hi joethefox, had another idea just today. each time i open the remote i usually need to wake my xbmc instance via WOL. works great btw... however would be even better if i could set a specific instance in the settings to automatically wake and connect to when i open the app. that way it would be more intuitive and responsive to the end user imho. let's discuss....

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - tudstudent - 2013-01-01

@Joethefox:
I borrowed the ipad2 from my parents. Installed the app and guess what... Same crap happened as on the ipod. So unfortunately it is not the ipod which is screwing things up.... At least we can now be 100% sure about that.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Kar-Chee - 2013-01-01

Hello. I have a problem with setting the XBMC official remote.
Im using ipad mini and i was able to configure the settings on my htpc so i can acces the remote from my web browser from any computer on my local network by typing 192.168.1.35:8080 . I can see all my movies and can use the remote.
I cant connect from the app on the ipad though nor can i connect from safari on my ipad.
Can anyone please help me find a solution?

Did you enable control XBMC by external programs in your settings of XBMC host?

First of all "Happy new year!"

(2012-12-30, 16:20)joethefox Wrote: @_someone_, yes the fix is already included in Frodo RC2 but you can still try what Tolriq has suggested. If the issue persist, I'm thinking that to speed up the debug process if you PM me your UDID I can build a debug version to sent to you that output some debug messages.

I finally had some time to play around a little bit. The problem doesn't seem to be the nfo-file, but the filename of the movie/nfo. All movies which have "special" characters in the filename (like umlauts) are causing the problem "No items found.". For example, I had problem with these files:

Movies/187 - Eine tödliche Zahl (1997)/187 - Eine tödliche Zahl (1997).avi
Movies/187 - Eine tödliche Zahl (1997)/187 - Eine tödliche Zahl (1997).nfo

Concerts/U2 - 360° at the Rose Bowl/U2 - 360° at the Rose Bowl.mkv
Concerts/U2 - 360° at the Rose Bowl/U2 - 360° at the Rose Bowl.nfo

If I just rename the folders/files and keep the nfo untouched everything is working fine. By the way, I'm also running XBMC on a Mac Mini like user "amcfarla". So, to me it looks more like a problem of the OSX-version of XBMC than a problem with the remote app. XBMC itself displays and plays these files with the special characters correctly.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - jpjpjp - 2013-01-02

Just updated this today from the old "can version". Very slick! Thank you.

When I click on the cover art in the Now Playing window I don't see the Repeat and Shuffle buttons as described in this post.

Image

Was curious if anyone else had seen this. The fact that any music I play from the remote is always in shuffle mode has always seemed odd to me and I was hoping that this release might allow me to turn shuffle off.

Happy New Year!

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - TenLeftFingers - 2013-01-02

App is amazing, thank you. You wouldn't believe what I payed money for prior to this!

Reading this thread - the issue with no control on the Login Screen due to JSON not being available, could it be worked around by issuing (if implemented in XBMC) a fast user switch? i.e. direct from one profile to another and not through the login screen.

My entertainment system has a keyboard left out in front just for this case when switching from the kids to adults profile, drastically reducing the 'swish' factor that seems oh-so-close!

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2013-01-02

@amcfarla, @_someone_, I've opened a trac ticket regarding your issue http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/13878

@tudstudent, yep the issue isn't depending on the iDevice in use

@BigAAC, double check if the username and password are the correct ones, http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Settings/Services#Webserver

@rahnlys, what's your OS and XBMC versionHuh?

@xmhd, not bad as idea, I'll look to code something into this

@Kar-Chee, if I understand well, neither from the iDevice browser you can connect to XBMC, check if your iDevice is in the same network of the XBMC instance

@jpjpjp, repeat mode and shuffle are unavailable if you are in music party mode.

@TenLeftFingers, better to ask in the XBMC feature suggestions thread, the behavior you are describing is out of control of the remote app

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - tudstudent - 2013-01-02

@Kar-Chee: If you do not know what Joe means post your IP details of your HTPC (found under systemsettings and then info) and the details of your IPAD (no idea where to find them)
