RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - gurabli - 2015-09-13

Thanks fritsch (and others too) for devoting so much of your free time and work!
For PPA the pvr addons also need to be installed from the link in the first post?

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - fritsch - 2015-09-13

No. Those are OpenELEC only.

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - gurabli - 2015-09-13

Thanks! First time setting up Kodi on Ubuntu Server, sorry for the noob question, from where do I install vdr-vnsi add on?

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - fritsch - 2015-09-13

You install them directly from the fernetmenta-master-ppa - they are packaged, see: https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/ubuntu/xbmc-fernetmenta-master

e.g. sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-vdr-vnsi

Many thanksSmile Will report back this week about my findings using PPA.

A Review of the Progress we made in the last days concerning HEVC you can find here: http://www.technikaffe.de/anleitung-326-hevc_support_unter_openelec

Some short extract:
- Dual Channel matters :-)

But only if you watch 3840x2160@60p content. Here even the Dual Channel N3000 Asrock beats the Intel Nuc N3700 with the very same Software. Keep in mind this is an "academical" test right now and drivers are getting better over time. I think we will have fully fluid 4k@60p HEVC on both platforms.

Edit: The author verified this by removing one memory stick of the N3000 and running the same sample again. Skips increased.

I asked Dennis of technikaffe.de to make this test on the N3000. Also consider, it's not about decoding only - but rendering - and here rendering skips - no decoder drops, which could very likely be memory bandwidth.

3Semiot:

Reverted back from jarvis to 5.95.5 to test if shutdown problem is only a bug of jarvis or not

Checked grayramp scale to see difference vs fritsch build

Isengard 5.95.5 banding

Fritsch build...one wordTongueerfect!

Thank you again fritsch

I will do it within tomorrow. Anything else?

Celeron NUC with N3050 is also available.

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - fritsch - 2015-09-13

Nope :-) Thanks much in advance. I just encode a 7680 × 4320 sample ... just for fun ...

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - ggp759 - 2015-09-13

fritsch sorry if tis been asked before but 1080/24p videos have out of sync audio with the latest (13/9) openelec builds you posted. Does that have to do with that am on a chromebox not powerful enough for 4k? I dont think so. Any help please? Thanks

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - Roby77 - 2015-09-13

strange just tried 3 films and didn't notice it

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - ggp759 - 2015-09-13

Very weird indeed. Will test more tomorrow and report back. Will try a factory reset from within openelec also.

RE: New Era: VAAPI with EGL interoperation - Jimmersd - 2015-09-14

I was having problems with barring and loss of a/v sync. I cannot supply any logs of this. But I wanted to say that everything cleared up after I disabled dithering in the Kodi system menu. Then I rebooted and re-enabled dithering and it's been perfect since. Don't know why or how, just glad it worked.

Cheers!
