This new setting does bring up a new "play with" option in the context menu. However, selecting it triggers nothing other than closing the whole context menu. Then I rolled back to 5.0.1.beta 6 (the only version I was allowed to choose from) to test if I messed up something, and found that the old "play using" option was still working perfectly everywhere in the old version. Perhaps you might want to set up an external player in playercorefactory.xml to verify this? Are "play with" and "play using" the same thing in Kodi?

So the next version v5.0.5 will focus on optimization, code cleaning and bug-fixing - no new features for now.
I also took a look at the current state of the APIv3 and found this:

At the current state "Recommended" Videos and/or Channels and "new subscription videos" (the only APIv2 function I use) are not supported (yet). I will sit these functions out, because after April 2015 something will/should happen:
