Do you have any plans to add multi-disk support in? I have my roms set up for Advanced Launcher, which only scanned the first disk in a set and popped up a submenu to select the other disks. It did this by looking for a "-cdXX" appended to the file name to determine the CD number, and allowed you to specify what names were shown in the interface with curly brackets (for example "Chrono Cross {English Disk 2}-cd2.cue" would show up as entry 2 in the submenu as "English Disk 2."). It was super handy for multi-disk games and hiding mods behind a sub-category.

Is there anything like this in the works for AEL?

Will think about that, but currently I will focus on the artwork scrapers and another couple of bugs.

What I do for the multidisc games is to create a separate folder, put all the ISOs there, and then create a .cue file. Then, I tell AEL to scan just for CUE files only. Would this method work for you?
I use playlists for emulators that support them, but a lot of emulators (and PC games) don't support them and the one's that do have pretty minimal interfaces to use playlists, so it's better from a GUI perspective to be able to handle it on the Kodi side.

Great to see development is continuing on a launcher script! I don't use any emulators, but I have a lot of Windows games setup in AL. I installed AEL and imported my launchers and everything works as well or better than it did before. I'd like to make use of AEL's favorites category. Is it possible to add standalone launchers to AEL's favorites, or is this only for ROMs?

Thanks for any tips!

It does.

I did not get it to work.

I had imported setting from AL. I can scan for ROMs, they are found but they aren't displayed. Get the following error message:

"Launcher XML/JSON missing. Add items to launcher"

Edit: have this only with SEGA Genesis ROMs. Amiga and PSX works

Hi, Just a request - Could you add an option to make Kodi auto-minimise when you launch a rom and then auto-maximise when you quit the emulator?

I've been struggling with slow down in Kega Fusion where the fps was below 30, I realised that it was only happening when AEL was open in the background. Minimising the window got my speed back up to 60fps

Hi. Favourites and virtual launchers are intended only for ROMs. If you use standalone launchers then create a favorite category and move there your favourite games. You can freely move launchers among categories. Making a dedicated categories for launchers will be complicated with current AEL design.

First check the obvious: the rom extension in the genesis launcher. Make sure you didn't slip in a space or something like that. If that doesn't work then post a debug log as indicated in first post.

That should be already there. Edit the launcher, advanced settings.

You are welcomed. Forgot to say, you can hide favorites, rom collections and virtual launchers in plugin settings if you are not gonna use them.

Thanks for the reply Wintermute but I can't find an option to minimise anywhere. I found the option to switch to windowed mode in the advanced launcher settings but after switching to windowed mode the window was still open in the background. I have to manually minimise it to the task bar before I get full speed.

I'm sorry, got totally confused. You are right, AEL has the ability to turn Kodi into windowed mode but not to minimise Kodi's window.

OK, so googling a bit I have found a potential solution for you. You need to use an external tool like this one. Download the tool and place in a convenient directory (for example, C:/Tools/) and then create a launcher script like this,

Code:
REM launcher.cmd for Fusion
REM This script should be called as:
REM launcher.cmd rom_path.ext

REM Minimise Kodi window
c:\Tools\cmdow "Kodi" /MIN

REM Execute emulator
c:\Fusion\Fusion.exe %1

REM Maximise Kodi window and make Kodi window active
c:\Tools\cmdow "Kodi" /MAX /ACT

Note that this script is orientative, I have not tested it (I'm a Linux user myself) and maybe you will need to change it a bit. Hope this helps!

RE: Advanced Emulator Launcher - Multi-emulator frontend for Kodi - foleyjo - 2016-09-06

Thanks again. I'll try that tonight and let you know how I get on.

Another quick question - Do videos need to be a certain filetype to be found by AEL? I have mp4 files and they do play in AEL but it doesn't find them automatically and if I add them manually the folder appears empty in the browser window.
The only way I can currently add them is by editing the xml file

Currently the video extensions are (defined in this file):

Code:
TRAILER_EXTS_DIALOG = '.mpg|.mpeg|.avi'

I do not use trailers myself so I did not test trailer support at all. What file extensions should I add?

RE: Advanced Emulator Launcher - Multi-emulator frontend for Kodi - foleyjo - 2016-09-06

My files came from emumovies and they were mp4 so it's probably a good idea to add that extension. I'm not sure if and what other extensions are used.

My plan though was to just do a bulk rename on the filetype to a supported one and then once added I'll bulk rename them back to mp4 and then use notepad++ to replace the text.

Will do a fix tonight and add more file extensions for videos.
