Ok, well I installed XBMC on my other pc (P4) just fine - playing mp3s as I type.

One thing I tried on the XP1600 pc was removing nvidia official drivers (93.71) and install latest omega forceware drivers (latest official DO NOT support GF4) hoping this would fix things, but same problem.

Both of theses pc's are running standard onboard AC97 with the same driver!

I've done a lot of trouble shooting in my time, but these crashes are the most frustrating of all. Maybe it is to do with the age of the vid card? I have two more machines I can test on so will see how those go.

I'm having the same issue however my hex #'s are all 0's in the error report under windows XP. P4, Via chipset, ATI all in wonder 9700 pro, lastest drivers, SP's, .net's.

Oddly enought the installer and XBMC loads up great on my Dell Vista Laptop.. Smile

As far as upgrading the version that is installed with this installer, can we just download the latest T3CH and extract the XBMC folder into C:\Program Files\XBMC overwriting all the existing files?

- WiSo - 2008-05-19

This would just update the skins and system dlls. The xbmc.exe is not part of the t3ch distribution so are the _win32.vis files and the Imagelib.dll which is also different to the xbox binary.

I fixed the startup error by:

1: Uninstalling XBMC
2: Uninstalling .net Framework 2.0 SP1
3: Rebooting
4: Reinstalling .net Framework 2.0 SP1
5: Rebooting
6: Reinstall XMBC

I also disabled my AV software (Kaspersky) during the updates.

Thanks. To upgrade then, do we basically need to learn how to checkout svn and build everything?

- WiSo - 2008-05-20

This would be the best solution Wink
Anyhow this depends on how we offer svn builds in future. Dunno if we use the installer or just provide the binary with changed dlls.

Please use the installer.

If you do a working installer /uninstaller then it would simply be to uninstall the old one and install the new one. That would give a known set of files to support/troubleshot

Ive installed xbmc using this installer (XBMCSetup-Rev12882) but I cannot play videos,I just get a black screen with sound like a lot of others. I do have an intel chipset 945GM but when I use the TCH3 build (which is installed in a different directory) videos play perfectly!

Can someone help ?

The problem I have is that the TCH3 build plays videos okay but doesnt have smb working, the 12882 revision works with the network but videos dont play!!!

what gfx card you have?

I see now its intel. Maybe try the ATI trick. Find some dll that is responsible for OpenGL in the intel driver suite (if there is any) and try different versions from different versions. I don't know... I have nvidia and ati cards. With nvidia I have 0 problems. With older ati (x600) I had to do the dll trick. With newer (onboard hd3200) I have no problems at all...

Using Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
