I’ve never had this issue when updating Xonfluence in the past. I was able to access the zip file either through Kodi File Manager address link during Helly years or by navigating to the Download (or Downloader) folder to use the install from zip function when Soriano took over.
I haven’t manually changed any Android system settings since the last Xonfluence update I did, but there was a system update that ONN pushed. No idea if that might have changed anything, as I kept a lean Kodi setup in this device.
Xonfluence is reinstalled; some of my settings were lost, but nothing major to rework them 🎉

Is this currently the latest version of Xonfluence? Updated to Kodi Matrix, noted Xonfluence not compatible and found this thread. Grabbed the zip but Kodi won't install due to problem with dependency. Any suggestions?

Updated to Kodi Matrix Why? We are at Omega now (21.1)
due to problem with dependency Dependency problem means you are installing the wrong skin version.

Doh, sorry, I should have been more specific and a little accuracy wouldn't hurt.
I'm running a Vero 4k and OSMC. It just updated today to Kodi 21.1 Omega (not Matrix!).
I downloaded the zip file from the link in post #46 of this thread, which appears the same as what you provided. Moved the zip file to the Vero media folder and then tried to add it from the Kodi Addons, Add from Zip option. Failed to open dependency as mentioned.
Incidentally, when the system restarted after the update there was a message that said the Xonfluence skin that had been there was not compatible. But I can't see it listed in add-ons. I assumed it would be there just disabled and I would be able to remove it. The old repository it came from was still there and I removed that. Could it be the old Xonfluence is causing my inability to install this new version?

Please try again, as there was a dependency of the favourites script which is now built in within Kodi.

I'm sorry to say the result is the same.
Failed to install add on from zip file
- Failed to install a depedency
For what it's worth I've tried installing the file from a network share but also copied it to a local media share on the device and and tried from there.
The OSMC update that brought this version of Kodi happened the same day I made my first post here. The next day there was a minor update from OSMC, don't know what it contained but suspect it was OSMC not Kodi related. Anyway it made no difference.

Thank you sir, will try this evening. I expect this is likely just a Kodi/skin issue but I also created a thread on the OSMC forum in case its been seen by other users.
If this last zip still won't install, is there anything else I can provide by way of information or log that will assist you?
In the end I guess I can do a clean install of the latest OSMC, but would like to avoid having to set up my various personal settings etc, especially the Xonfluence ones...

I don't think you need to, it's just a stripped down Debian-based OS that runs on RPi or OSMCs own SBC. The interface is just Kodi with OSMCs own skin and add-on app, Troubleshooting an issue with Kodi doesn't have much if anything to do with the OS.

OK then, I can tell you that I installed the very skin I linked today to both Arch & Debian 12 running Kodi without issues.
This in addition to the already 2 Kodis 21 & 22 running in portable mode on Windows.

I sense a little defensiveness and I can assure you there is no need. I absolutely believe the recent versions of the skin work perfectly well with the versions of Kodi they are designed for - why would I believe otherwise? I'm not holding anyone's feet to the fire here, I'm just genuinely interested in finding out why it's not installing for me. If I find a resolution from someone at OSMC I'll happily share that here in case anyone else shows up at your doorstep! I've appreciated your efforts very much.
