Does anyone know if it is possible to use an ftp source as the CV content directory?
I have added the ftp location as one of my sources in the kodi file manager but it does not show up as one of my content path options.

Thank you for all the work on this program! Before I try it out on my system, will it interfere with CE I am currently using? I'd like to keep it just in case CV doesn't work well for me.
Also I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly, but does this program require the movie trailers to be downloaded to my network drive to play them? Currently my CE streams them with no downloaded content. Works great that way.

Installing CV will not mess up anything with CE, unless you use the play button to automatically launch CE. Once you get CV installed and configured you won't go back to CE though. C does everything CE did better plus a hundred other things.
And no, you don't have to download trailers for CV to a local folder. You can stream just like CE does. Not my preference but it does work.

Having some issues using a Pi2 to playback CV for a 3D feature. I'm thinking the issue with the Pi crashing or hanging or other weird things has to do with the refresh rate change. In the 3D CV sequence after the first few modules everything is in 3D and all use the same 23.xx frame rate. I'm wondering is using an action file to change the refresh rate once and ignore it changing untill at worst the final module (an exit video) would work but not sure how to set it up.
Has anyone else used an action file in this manner? If so how's it working? If it's all been posted before please let me know where so I can try and figure it all out.

Finally managed to add YouTube links for trailers but can't find a way to add YouTube user links videos or YouTube playlists. Basically YouTube playlists works but it plays only the first video.
I need to help me with cvurl. I need to add a YouTube user link because of subtitles and set it as random. Tutorial says that cvurl should be like
youtube:user: YouTube.com user videos (URL or "ytuser" keyword). Could someone give me an example?

Anyone using the Raspberry Pi2 for 3D with CV? If so, are you or did you have issues getting the Pi to scan all the CV content and playback everything in a sequence properly?
I solved the Pi having general 3D issues so now it's time to get CV to work. It will not scan everything in the CV content folder and it will not play items from custom folders as directed by the module in the sequence. The same sequence works flawlessly on a PC, but on the Pi, no matter how many times I scan the content or reset and then re-scan, it will not get half or more of what is there.
Anyone had similar situations and found a resolution?
Also Scott, for development phase 2 I'd suggest looking at a way to test each individual module once set from within the sequence screen.

Hey there! I suppose that if your source FTP is added as a source in Kodi File Manager, it could work, but we haven't tested that at all. There would likely be performance issues depending on the bandwidth offered by the connection to that FTP server. Make sure that you're not just adding it as a video source, and are following the instructions here under the CONFIGURING THE ADD-ON heading. Doing it this way behaves differently than if you were to add a source for movies. Again, totally untested, so it might not work at all. I've sent a message to our developer asking for his thoughts.

Hey Mychael, Dave is right! Because CV uses a different directory structure than CE did, you can even have them both installed side-by-side. We've added every feature that CE had and then some except the ability to download trailers in the background, so you will likely not need to keep both. You're currently able to stream from several sources (iTunes, StereoscopyNews for 3D trailers), and that list will grow with each major release. You can also download specific trailers if you want to do that, so you're not really limited at all.

Hey Dave! To set that up, just place Action Modules at the beginning and at the end of your sequence, then point the first Action Module to the Kodi-DisableRefreshRateSync.cvaction, and the second to the Kodi-EnableRefreshRateSync.cvaction. I'm not sure about locking it to a specific rate, though. You may be able to put the Action Module immediately following one of your Video Bumper Modules and accomplish that. I'm not sure if Kodi clears the rate after each video.

So right now, the only thing supported in CVURL files is a direct link to a single video. Playlists and the like are on the list of features to add in the next round of development. As for enabling subtitles, I found something in YouTube's documentation that might be helpful.
Adding &cc_load_policy=1 will enable closed captioning when the YouTube video loads if closed captioning is available.

Can I get you to post a log of you doing a content update and then running your sequence on the PI, and one for the PC? Curious if there's a difference we can spot easily. Also, great idea! It's going on the list.

Alright we did some testing. The Content path needs to be a writable location, but Kodi has no way of knowing that an FTP is writable. Because of that limitation, FTP doesn't show up as a valid location for your Content path. It looks like because of the way Kodi handles FTP, it's not really a viable solution for use with your CinemaVision content. Every other path will work when pointed to an FTP server.

After months, no years, of work this is the first walkthrough and demo video for a home theater build I've worked on at my friend's. It features the full CinemaVision sequence (in 2D) even controlling the lighting via Z-wave.
One thing of note, the audio always takes a second or 2 to start-up for each video as the HTPC sends the audio to the receiver which then set's the output. I'm hoping there is some way to get this fixed, possibly in the same manner as using refresh actions, to set the audio as digital 5.1 up until the main feature then switching to the full HD audio. It gets a bit annoying after awhile.

Excellent work! As for the audio, what are your audio settings in Kodi? I would suggest going to Settings, System. Once there, change from Standard to Expert settings to expose all of the options. Then click Audio Output.
I've personally found on my 7.1 system that WASAPI works best, with all of the format options enabled and a 1 minute keep alive setting.

The settings in Kodi are what they should be. The issue is after each video the audio signal drops and the receiver goes to a stand-by waiting for the next input, then takes time to switch. It happens over and over and is highly annoying. I've tried setting the keep active before with no real results. I can try it again.

my cinemavision trailers folder is filled with trailers I downloaded with an external program (HD-Trailers.net Downloader). The program also creates .nfo files filled with genre and other movie information.
Unfortunately the genre filter doesn't seem to work.
On a trial basis I put only one video file to the trailers folder and copied the .nfo file from one of my movies (renamed it like the test file) to it. On this way I hoped I can definetly say if genre detection works or not.
Then I updated content in cinemavision addon settings.
Now, when I start that movie with "match feature genres" the trailer doesn't play, when I start it without "match feature genres" the trailer plays normally.
any ideas?

Did you try increasing the Keep alive setting? There might also be settings on the receiver to tinker with. I'm not sure what though, it's probably totally different from my Marantz.

Are those trailers then scraped into the Kodi database? I'm not too familiar with that downloader. If they're in the database, that's where we get the ratings from. You may have to Update content in the CinemaVision settings to scrape all of those trailers into the CinemaVision content database. CinemaVision won't read NFO files for information.
