thesoulhacker Wrote:First time I'm seeing something like this I must admit. You guys are working really hard on restricting the number of people able to test your alpha when you have an entire community eager to test it for you and give you feedback.

I just don't understand this philosophy of "exclusivity" from an entire "team" when you have single people "teams" all around the xbmc community releasing their skin in alpha for everyone to test and help out.

I don't understand your position at all but I'll respect it as this is your hard work we're talking about. good luck in your alpha!

UPDATE: ok, after seeing your link and after seeing that you guys are asking for a donation to get in your alpha has me now outraged. You guys don't really understand what the word community means. seriously.

I'm sure the reason for this has been made abundantly clear before, but let me reiterate. The reason for a closed testing program is that these users are more likely to respect the vision of the skinner and instead of creating 8000s forks before the skin is even finished *cough* alaska *cough*; we can finish the skin first w/o this type of thing happening.

That isn't to say we don't encourage mods or themes for xperience, heck we are creating ways to make it very easy for you guys to do this, we simply would rather have everything finished before everyone starts modding the hell out of it and asking questions as to why certain things don't work, can you add this, etc.

This way ensures a base level of quality and more of a "guideline" to how things should function and look. With alaska, and even aeon to an extent, users are trying to interpret how the final vision "would" have been.

And as always thanks for your interest Big Grin

As I mentioned earlier about making it easy to theme our skin, here is another example that may be included in with the Alpha version. Its not 100% but you'll get the idea Wink

Whatchya guys think?

I'm really digging those themes, especially the retro theme. I've never seen a skin take advantage of xbmc's themes in quite this way before. I might have to appropriate this idea for my own skin. Laugh Congrats on thinking up something completely original!

When MC360 first came out (Team) Blackbolt had a couple decent themes out (Superman, comes to mind).

mc360 had about 100 themes for it most average to bad but some were very good

Hi, you did an amazing job Smile, even if i prefer Ellipsis.

If we donated for ellipsis, do we have access to Xperience Alpha ? I gave to support your team as any single good work must be rewarded, not really to support one specific skin.

Yeah but only a couple where actually done by our team. There where lots and lots of poor user ones for sure though.

This is a sticky subject. As it stands, people who have donated pre- October 5th, which is when the Ellipsis beta was announced, will have access to both. Anyone contributing after that date will only be entered into the beta for the chosen donation.

Also, I'd like to say that if you have any further questions, anyone, related to the donation side of this thing, please email us. These XBMC community forums aren't the best place to be discussing the details, we can respond to you via email. If we get enough common questions we'll put a FAQ on the beta page, but for now the beta page will only be running for a few weeks until both programs start, then the entry process will be closed.

Ok, thanks for the answer. Tried to give to Xperience yesterday, but only found the donate link for ellipsis ... So i thought it was for all the projects not for only one (no explication for alpha allowance was given yet on the website ... only your post on this thead about friends, admin etc.)

Well, the donation was not for that, but for all the projects, so i will see when it comes out.
