RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - Matt Devo - 2014-08-13 (2014-08-13, 04:27)A2K81 Wrote: I'm a little confused...I just ran the script to update my firmware, but xbmc is telling me that I still have OpenELEC 4.0.7. Shouldn't I have 4.1.2? Am I missing something? The script only updates your firmware, not an existing OpenELEC install. OpenELEC auto-updates itself if set to do so, though I think beta releases require a manual update. Instructions are on the OpenELEC wiki and linked from the XBMC/ChromeBox wiki page. Basically download the update, copy file to ChromeBox, reboot. RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - rodddogg - 2014-08-13 Does anyone have an issue where the CB pops up a white static screen (like a source) either waking up from sleep or changing back to the input the CB is on? This thing is getting annoying and I always have to restart it. RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - rodddogg - 2014-08-13 Sorry forgot to post all that. It's a standalone OE on the Celeron CB. Connected to TV thru HDMI and hard wired ethernet. TV? what's the datestamp on the SeaBIOS version text at boot? RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - rodddogg - 2014-08-13 hmmm Ok I will check when I get home from work. I am connecting to TV. Thanks for your help! RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - CaptainHarlock - 2014-08-13 This script is fantastic. Great job! Questions for Matt: 1-Are you the person who is compiling the code for the custom coreboot rom? 2-If yes, Is the custom source code available somewhere? Thank you! RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - Matt Devo - 2014-08-13 (2014-08-13, 19:33)CaptainHarlock Wrote: This script is fantastic. Great job! yes. I originally ported the code for the ChromeBox (device name: Panther) from Google's Chromium branch to the upstream/mainline branch, in order to leverage the improvements made there. Since that time, Panther has been successfully integrated into upstream coreboot, so anyone can download/compile it. I've also fixed several issues (eg, USB3 booting in SeaBIOS) and added requested features (eg, vmx support) as well which are all now part of the upstream branch. Quote:2-If yes, Is the custom source code available somewhere? http://www.coreboot.org http://www.seabios.org http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/developer-information-for-chrome-os-devices/upstream-coreboot-on-intel-haswell-chromebook note: above instructions are slightly out of date https://github.com/MattDevo/coreboot https://github.com/MattDevo/SeaBIOS my codebase is slightly different than the upstream coreboot/SeaBIOS branches, and also includes build scripts etc specific to Panther. One could compile using my repos and the binary blobs extracted from a stock firmware file. the setup script also extracts the MAC address / device serial # etc from the stock firmware and persists that when flashing the coreboot build, so that's something you would need to do manually as well (if desired) Quote:Thank you! you're welcome RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.16 - 2014/07/29] - jjgalambos - 2014-08-13 Is it possible to change the boot sequence from chubuntu back to Chromeos? It seems that I did not give enough memory to the ubuntu partition to boot up. I can only get to the prompt command. I tried my recovery Chrome OS USB stick to start back from the beginning but everytime I insert the thumb drive is says no chrome os detected. The recovery USB has to be used after powering on with the recovery button depressed. I've upgraded my firmware, OE 4.1.3 and used all of the recommended settings from the wiki. Live TV streams are still causing hard freezing after about an hour of straight viewing, necessitating that the Acer be unplugged and plugged back in. Any other ideas that haven't been described above? My wife is getting pissed lol.
