RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Norin_Radd - 2019-03-25

Do not like the aspect of the submenus... cant just be the text...? this looks awful or is it supposed for me to put some icons on it as well?

Other thing... i fancied that rectangle with the info of the fanart shown on the widget of the menu... i would like an option to have or disable it.

Image
My menus are all smartplaylists  and submenus are subsequent smartplaylist

Also PVR is not working well with predefined channels pannel... it shows the guide but no channels interface, same with radio.

Edit: i see i can put icons on submenu, but just plain text is also fine.

i really would like the info rectagle as previous skin had... just the rectangle... skin looks naked without it.

pvr channel pannel need a fix.

music osd looks cool but lacks the option to change views of project M or shadertoy, color overlay, artist slideshow and title of music is excellent improvments.

Yes. That's exactly what you're meant to do. In the submenu section.

Some skins use a different color. I'm not noticing anything in Arctic Zephyr 2 that shows an episode hasn't aired other than checking the date. Is there a way to highlight the unaired episodes so we don't accidentally search for something that doesn't exist yet?

This is based on the add-on that shows the content, not the skin.

Definitely not the add-on and 100% Arctic Zephyr 2. I'm using the same add-on with Arctic Zephyr 1 & 2 and the episodes that haven't aired in Arctic Zephyr 1 have the episode title text a right pitch. The episodes that haven't aired in Arctic Zephyr 2 have the title text the exact same as the episodes that have aired.

Any chance you can add a new smaller size of panel for the widgets? I'd really love to be able to have one (or a few!) that's at least half of the size of the current icon panel (maybe about the size or smaller than the panels for submenu items inside 1135) and rectangle rather than square as they would fit icons small text better. I've playing with having a single homescreen for Movies and another for TV with no submenus and instead lots of widgets but the minimum size I can make any of the widgets types is becoming a problem...
Thanks!
(2019-03-23, 01:45)jurialmunkey Wrote: 9. The problem with different sized widgets is that the widgets will then be cut off half way down the screen (see screenshot below). Unlike Aura or Estuary, AZ2 has content shown in the bottom section of the screen, so there needs to be padding from the edge to prevent overlaps. Even if I disabled stuff like codecs on the home screen, having a setup like Estuary or Aura will break mouse support (which I'm making an effort to support in this skin). The only other option is to have a similarly size widget like in the submenu hub and then have an enforced gap between it and the next item - so that it effectively takes up the same space as other widgets, but just leaves blank space.

@jurialmunkey
I saw people asking for smaller widgets because they feel that adding categories like widgets "look" too big.
I think their problem would be "solved" if you add a new widget aspect ratio option, "Square with labels".
In Aura a square item in a widget has the size of a poster item in a widget and it includes the label.
Especially in AZ in which categories icons are not transparent, "Square with labels" would look very beautiful.

While this would be a definite improvement over the current choices I'd still also like the ability to have smaller non standard size widgets even if it means having some get cut-off until moved to. If you look at the way scrolling works for views with posters or fanarts they still appear from inside the margins which cuts them off visually as they move so it's not a hugely different situation and does not break the design of the skin imo...
I am not against your idea. Far from it.
I am a mouse user, the submenu hubs and submenus in general are not accessible without a remote.
Also you can't go back from a submenu hub to home menu without a remote.
So adding categories as a widget is my only option.
Ι am just trying to help my friend Smile
Because @jurialmunkey has rejected the proposal of widgets with smaller height...

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - VikkiXavier - 2019-03-25

hello jurial,

The square boxes containing the artist/album/etc images, as you can see below, does not contain the whole image when Kodi is not in full screen. As you can see, the background of the squares are visible through both sides of the images.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - wolverinee - 2019-03-25

I did that, still shows only 25 max.. but i am talking about main screen where you are on for example Movies category you can scroll only 25, when its set to None, but when you click on Movies the unlimited option works.. anyway thanx

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - wolverinee - 2019-03-25

i was used to it in version 1.. same as the total number icon of movies and TV SHOWS episodes in the main window.. but still the best skin so far.. keep doin great job  Wink

(2019-03-23, 15:16)shareonline Wrote: First of all, AWESOME job with this skin! It is by far the best looking clean designed skin i have seen yet.

I was wondering if you have plans for a repository for future updates etc for the skin?
I use Kodi all over my house with several NVidia shield tv's, and it is so much easier to keep everything updated through kodi itself, rather then transfering files on usb sticks etc.

Keep up the good job!

It's much easier for me to not create a repository... It's very time consuming to create respository updates, particularly when I'm making frequent updates. I could much better use that time for actual skinning.

Considering the many hundreds of hours I've put into the skin, I don't think it is a big ask to expect users to spend a couple of minutes manually installing (particularly when this is an alpha release).

If someone wants to take the time to maintain a repository for me, then I am happy for them to do that, but I simply don't have the time to do it myself.

I could do it if you'd like 👍

Hey, that would be great if you could!

My main requirements would be:
1. That the repo only contain AZ2 (and maybe horizon genre icon pack) - no 3rd party add-ons etc.
2. That I have editing permissions on the repo.
3. That updates are taken from the releases page.
4. That updates are made fairly quickly after I make a release (I don't want users to be multiple versions behind because then I will get heaps of bug reports about issues that I've already resolved).

If you're happy with those conditions, then that would be fantastic!

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Davidsilva - 2019-03-25

Are we taking bug reports? One in libreelec which causes video/music to buffer every 10 secs. Same bug isn't present in the default skin.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Skittles9823 - 2019-03-25

Would it be possible for the current playing track to have a play button to the left of it. AZ1 had that iirc but it isn't in 2 as of yet.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Weavus - 2019-03-25

Does anyone know if its possible to get an individual widget to activate a window? I want to have a widget on my homescreen that launches the genre submenu hub but I'm having difficulty working out how to do it. The widget is currently created using a library node:

xml:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<node order="20" type="filter">
    <label>135</label>
    <icon>DefaultGenre.png</icon>
    <content>movies</content>
    <group>genres</group>
</node>

But instead of going to a list of genres I want it to use the 1132 submenu hub... is this possible in some way?

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - michaeljc70 - 2019-03-25

I've done a lot of customization to my AZ like custom menus (and really hiding everything else on the home screen).  Can I copy those settings over to AZ2?  Or has things changed too much and I need to start over with customization?

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - dcsacew21 - 2019-03-25

I installed now over the .zip file the v0.9.16-alpha4 version (latest).

will the skin be auto updated within Kodi with new releases? or do i have to install the .zip file every time a new releases comes out?

Manual install for now, until the skin is in a repository.
