Basically, full screen widget showcase with the "play", and "show information" buttons. But if you go down to the other widgets that are set up. The "play", and "show information" buttons go away, and whatever media is highlighted in the widget below is shown on the full screen widget above.

I've already tried this sort of thing. It doesn't work. As soon as you have any background that is light or has any sort of detail in it, then it becomes extremely difficult to read the text. The only way this sort of thing is possible is if I had more control over the types of fanart used e.g. if I could specify to use fanart where most of the detail is aligned to the right of screen, then it could work - but with the variability of fanart, it just simply does not work.
Fanart with bright details makes text unreadable:
Even with darker artwork, if there is any variability you lose text
The showcase hub overlay works because the majority of the screen does not have text, so only a small corner needs to be dimmed. For that sort of effect to work with the standard library views where there is much more content on screen, the overlay would need to cover nearly the entire screen which then defeats the whole purpose. That's why the standard library background is relatively dark - it has to work with a variety of backgrounds.
It looks nice like this to me. You`re 100% right though. Text is unreadable.
Do you think it`s possible to add a dark, slightly transparent overlay or blur to only display where there`s text. Kind of like you did where it says info, trailer, similar etc io the first pic?
Found this on Google. Something similar (maybe a little more transparency) to this:
Not sure if that`s possible (sounds like a lot of work) to insert only where there`s text, but it would help with unreadable text.
Edit: looking at the two pictures you posted again. I noticed the bottom half of each picture has more darker shadows than the top half (gradient-like). The top has less shadow. You could probably put the shadow used on the bottom, and duplicate it up top, and it would have more readable text.

It's not like I don't want to be able to show off fanart or have clearlogos instead of title text. I've tried all these ideas many many times.
It's not that I'm opposed to these ideas. The reason I don't have these types of things in the skin is because there are so many artwork scenarios to take into account where the approach simply stops working well.
I don't want a skin the looks great half the time and terrible the rest. I want a skin that looks good all the time.

This is why, no matter how many skins I've tried over the years, I just can't stay away from one of yours! You have such an eye for consistency, and won't stand for a view or control being "out of place" or otherwise just "not right". Thanks for all you do, and Happy Easter!

It wouldn't be a skin issue - they definitely work (unless you disabled those ratings in skin settings of course).
Since you're getting tmdb and trakt ratings, the likely causes are either:
Mistyped OMDb Key (or an errant space at the end/beginning).
OMDb API is down / has issues.
Difficult to say without a debug log. If there is a problem with OMDb API you'd have a message in the log about a request to OMDb that either says "ConnectionError" or "HTTP Error Code"
If the HTTP error code is 401, then you have a mistyped OMDb API Key. If the Error code is 500, server is down. Other 400 level errors will indicate some issue with the API.
I just installed the latest tmdb plugin in the repository and it is now showing all the ratings!

Hi @jurialmunkey,
I have noticed that there is a Trailer button into The TMDb Helper widget for series. However for local content series when entering info dialog there is no option to play a trailer. Possible to have the trailer option for local series as well and pulled the same way as TMDb helper widget (not sure if this is from youtube?)
So basically watch trailers from Youtube for Local content of series?

Add an OMDB key in TMDbHelper.

That's a library scraper issue. If the item has ListItem.Trailer then the trailer button is shown. In TMDbHelper lists I add trailers to shows. In the library it is up to whatever scraper you use to fill the info.

But just wanted to piggy-back here and say that the popcorn rating is NOT popcorn time.
The popcorn is RottenTomatoes USER rating (and the tomato is CRITICS).

Since yesterday update I have a problem customising the main menu. I think it might be a possible bug.
In the setting 'Customise home menu' my 1st menu item is 'Christmas movies', which at the moment is disabled - I am unable to scroll down the shortcuts to select another menu item. This only happens on my living room device that has the Christmas menu item, so i assume it has something to do with that?

I had the same problem as well. Had to reset the menu and do it from scratch, now it all works as expected.

For sure, so my question is basically if possible to add youtube trailers to the ones which are missing.. i.e. Embuary skin is having a youtube button for example in the info display

I thought it might be something like that because if i quickly pushed the left button as it was opening it would focus on the shortcuts menu so i was able to work around it. Thanks for the fix though!
