Not the first time....
what is command?

I tried :

date --set '2013-10-16 14:29:00-6:00'

and I get:

date: cannot set date: Operation not permitted

I read somewhere that the pi has no clock.

RE: WMC as the backend - released - Dilligaf - 2013-10-16

sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

You also need to set timezone in xbmc>settings>appearance>international

Are you connected to the internet? The PI gets time from timeservers as no, it doesn't have a clock

Wow... I forgot to mention

I live so far out in the country that there is no internet here. For me to download something, I have to go downtown, about 25 miles.

Lol. Are you posting by telepathy? Does Microsoft mail you new epg data?

Joking aside, I am not sure what your question was about on the epg thing, but I am sure the Pi problem is due to the date being wrong.

RE: WMC as the backend - released - spaceboy - 2013-10-17

hi kr, i have managed to get recorded tv to playback on the pi. very inconsistently but i'll look into those problems in due course. i must have deleted that first / when i was editing out my username. it seems the problem is playback on the pi. i need to do some testing to see whether its the same through the pvr plugin as it is through the video section, but i'm away for a few days now.

also update on the ts stutter bug. its been confirmed as a bug in Gotham Alpha and now showing as milestone Future / Pending => 13.0. we're on 12.2 at the moment aren't we? sounds promising!

I only need to download the epg about every two week. Whenever I go downtown, I take my laptop.

Too bad you cant set the starting date on the clock, I mean, after all, it does keep good time as long as it is on.

also, too bad about the epg. I was hoping to be able to use it on the big screen since my hdtv has no epg either (no internet on TV, so no Netflix or hulu, etc). I wanted to at least get a tvguide type screen out of the deal.

Not sure what the clock has to do with pulling the epg from the server, but maybe you guys can add editable starting date to kernel so that it may work. Power failures notwithstanding, it should tick away correctly.

I got involved with the Pi because I heard it was going to be used in third world countries...
I figured what are the chances that they would have broadband?

Well it's getting dark and I have been hanging around this Wendy's for three days now. They are starting to look at me funny. Time to go back to the Ranch and enjoy the wide open spaces... (and my livestock)

Thanks again for everything...

Tony

RE: WMC as the backend - released - bnb - 2013-10-17

Hi, Great Work.

I am having an issue when there is motion there are huge "lines" on the screen. I don't know if that's what others are calling stutter? I think I was getting that when I tried other backends when I was playing around with the PVR a long time ago.

This happens on HD, SD, Live, and Recorded TV.

I am running the XBMC on the same machine as my WMC. I just read about this today on the Raspbmc site, so I was going to update my Pi later and see if the issue is on there as well.

Thanks,
Bnb

That does sound promising, thanks for the update.

Pretty sure you can set the time manually see here http://oreilly.com/openbook/debian/book/ch07_05.html you may need to precede the commands with sudo

I see. That is a bummer that the only thing holding you back is the time setting on the pi. I could pass the correct time from the server to the addon, but the addon has no way of setting the time in xbmc. Possibly there is a system call I could execute to set the time in linux, I will check it out when I get a chance.

But like you said, the good news is you have a ranch (and a good excuse to go to Wendy's).

Its not stutter. Turn on deinterlacing in the xbmc settings.

Cool? I am not getting the images/screenshots, so I am not sure it you are reporting a problem or not.

Great, I thought that was it but couldn't find the settings. Thanks

You could get something like this http://www.adafruit.com/products/264 If I were in your situation I would seriously consider it. Anyways you should be able to set the time but you'll have to do it every time the PI boots. Just remember sudo
