Is there a way of having the extrafanart scroll?

Do you mean instead of fade? i.e. Artwork scrolls in from the side like how the fullscreen gallery navigates? That sort of thing isn't possible with a multiimage control - it needs to be done in a list, which is slower and more complex.

Im not sure I asked the question correctly. In aura there is an option called extrafanart: on. Is this option available in this skin somewhere in the settings?

Thanks

RE: Arctic Horizon - RedRanger - 2020-04-15

After the most recent skin update, in the "Customize Widgets" section, it seems the ability to "disable" widgets has disappeared. I'm not sure if this was intentional or if it's a bug. I'm can "enable" the widgets I had disabled before the latest skin update, but I can't disable them again after doing that.

Disabling widgets doesn't work properly and should never have been available. If you don't want to use a widget, you need to delete it.
I've left in the ability to re-enable widgets exactly for this scenario where someone had previously disabled one.

Since I have gone from one or another of your skins in my journey of pursuing simplicity and elegance. Seems like this is my new favorite. I like how there are fewer options to customize and the default views look like how I would prefer Auramod or Titan Bingie, etc to look. Except navigation is much quicker when scrolling through 7000+ movies. Basically you have done all the work of setting up the skin the way I like so it is very easy to use, consistent and intuitive. I'm pretty sure this is my new go-to skin. There are however a couple things that I will probably just have to get used to. I miss the ability to just have text rather than icons on the main menu. I label my sections like: film, series, news, radio, music, etc and I am used to seeing those words as icons. For me it is a mental translation to look for some icon that visually represents these categories. I can see how icons make for a thinner, less intrusive and more visually consistent menu. But for me it is a minor frustration to look for a picture rather than a word and words are already pictures themselves. I'll probably just have to get used to it though because everything else is pretty much perfectly done. Like I say about many things: less is more. This is a terrific skin, thank you.

Another thing related to these home menu icons is I can't figure out what that home icon does. I can't seem to select it so it interferes with the intuitive nature of scrubbing the main menu. I get the profile icon, that would be handy if multiple people used this same kodi install, but it is just me and me alone, so that's off. But I don't get the point of the home icon. It doesn't seem to be doing or representing something I can change or control. So I am not sure what information it conveys. Like the icons as pictures or words as pictures/icons it adds a layer of mental translation that makes it slightly less intuitive. At least, I have found this to be so.

As I said though, I like how the default option are few and pretty much how I would set it up anyway. Why should I hassle with so many other views when showcase/poster style is what I am looking for anyway. Definitely my new favorite skin. Thank you.

Thanks!

Text based menu is already on my TODO list:
https://github.com/jurialmunkey/skin.arctic.horizon/issues/49

The home icon is for vertical alignment purposes. It doesn't do anything other than indicate that you are on the home screen - it was more important in earlier versions of the skin when the side menu was available in other sections of the library but I removed that feature as I found it more confusion than useful.

I also look forward to having a text menu. Thank-you!

Ah - there's a bug stopping the option stopping from showing in the menu. It should be fixed now.
It's now available from the "Options" button in standard library views.
You need script.artwork.helper installed (same repo as Artwork Beef).

Thanks for your fix, unfortunately add-ons that doesn't require "script.artwork.helper" are not showing fanart. I use Simple HD Homerun add-on as a live TV widget; fanart is not showing in the widget after this fix.

RE: Arctic Horizon - FXB78 - 2020-04-15

When playing Music if you disable Slideshow this creates a gap at the bottom of the menu box, I would expect this to be aligned at the bottom like other menus, looks like a bit of a bug:

The skin is coming along beautifully, been using this as my daily driver since the first version, it keeps getting better and better.

Have you considered using the same style of buttons you use in the submenu hub also in the showcase hub? For some reason (it might be just me) the ones in the showcase keep always strike me as a little odd.

I'm referring to the buttons in this (Recently Added Episodes, Trakt Trending List), compared to the following (Recently Added, Trakt Trending etc.)

I feel like it would be more uniform using the first pic's style of buttons but then again it's all up to your preferences, just thought I'd mention it, cheers.

Hi @jurialmunkey, the skin keeps getting better and better with each update!! Would you consider adding an option that if clear-art is disabled, the movie/show title and info can stretch out and use the empty space once occupied by the clear art. Thanks for the consideration.

RE: Arctic Horizon - umonkey - 2020-04-15

Hi Jurial,

Just a small request is it possible to also have the show more at the end of a widget in the submenu hub?

Thanks 😀

I didn't change anything with how fanart is handled, all I did was enable the button to turn on extrafanart. If you don't want to use artwork helper and extra fanart, then don't enable the option.

I'll take a look but it's difficult to resize menus dynamically.

The showcase submenu matches the submenu widget which also matches the base directory of library nodes. It needs to have the larger size submenu widget style so that tops of the buttons can peek correctly from the bottom of the screen. Plus it looks very weird to have the smaller button type stacked in two rows.

I've found that having text stretch the full width of the screen makes it difficult to read on a larger tv because your eyes have to move a long way to read the whole section.
