Joking aside, I am not sure what your question was about on the epg thing, but I am sure the Pi problem is due to the date being wrong.
I only need to download the epg about every two week. Whenever I go downtown, I take my laptop.
Too bad you cant set the starting date on the clock, I mean, after all, it does keep good time as long as it is on.
also, too bad about the epg. I was hoping to be able to use it on the big screen since my hdtv has no epg either (no internet on TV, so no Netflix or hulu, etc). I wanted to at least get a tvguide type screen out of the deal.
Not sure what the clock has to do with pulling the epg from the server, but maybe you guys can add editable starting date to kernel so that it may work. Power failures notwithstanding, it should tick away correctly.
I got involved with the Pi because I heard it was going to be used in third world countries...
I figured what are the chances that they would have broadband?
Well it's getting dark and I have been hanging around this Wendy's for three days now. They are starting to look at me funny. Time to go back to the Ranch and enjoy the wide open spaces... (and my livestock)

You could always run up the NTP server on your WMC machine and point your pi at that for time, fairly sure it's just a registry change on Windows 7 to enable the NTP server as part o the time service.
That way, assuming your WMC machine has the correct time set, and a battery
You pi should pull the correct time from that

I just wanted to follow up on this. I have been paying close attention and this does not happen on wake from sleep and I originally thought. It is only on a cold boot. Also, the little delay program I have been testing has done the trick. After installing it and delaying ServerWMC by 10 seconds I have not seen the error again. =)

Good to know, thanks for following up.
I looked at the crash log you sent more closely too. I think the crash was really just due to the querying of the drm protection on channels at start-up (apparently they have to be 'ready' first). So rather than delaying the startup and re-trying, I decided to just let this fail and continue the startup. I think this will work better than an annoying delay If you aren't totally set on your delay approach - please try it out when I release (probably tomorrow) and see if it works for you.

I'll be more than happy to give it a try. I was simply trying the delay approach to see if we were barking up the right tree.

Hi Krustyreturns,
You were right about the timing in the pvr-client. Dillagaf showed me how to set the time on the pi, and as soon as I set it to the right day and time, the epg loaded with no problems and it has been working fine ever since. The pi will mostly be on, but if I have a power failure or shut down for any reason, it is easy enough to ssh the time setting. Thank you and Dillagaf for all your help and patience...
I was just reading about this gotham build. is that something I should be upgrading to, or should I just stay with the pvr-client you wrote.
I noticed that when playing back recorded tv programs, the picture sometimes halts, and restarts, as if the buffer was too small.
I am using a class 4 sd card. Do you think using a class 10 will solve this? or should I try to overclock. I am at cpu 840 Gpu 250 right now. Should I bump this up to 1000/300 ?
Sorry I asked so many questions at once, but I am limited here as to how long I can stay on the internet...
