Hi Krustyreturns,

You were right about the timing in the pvr-client. Dillagaf showed me how to set the time on the pi, and as soon as I set it to the right day and time, the epg loaded with no problems and it has been working fine ever since. The pi will mostly be on, but if I have a power failure or shut down for any reason, it is easy enough to ssh the time setting. Thank you and Dillagaf for all your help and patience...

I was just reading about this gotham build. is that something I should be upgrading to, or should I just stay with the pvr-client you wrote.

I noticed that when playing back recorded tv programs, the picture sometimes halts, and restarts, as if the buffer was too small.
I am using a class 4 sd card. Do you think using a class 10 will solve this? or should I try to overclock. I am at cpu 840 Gpu 250 right now. Should I bump this up to 1000/300 ?

Sorry I asked so many questions at once, but I am limited here as to how long I can stay on the internet...

I recommend a spicy chicken sandwich.

Gotham is the pre-release version of what will eventually be the lastest and greatest xbmc, using it now is not for the faint of heart. Until its released I am personally sticking with xbmc 12.2 (frodo). Plus only the frodo client is available on your pi, so far as I know.

Besides dilligaf's recommendation, I think you are using wireless connection to your server (which I believe is a laptop). It might be worth looking at that too.

Yes. The first recording should have gone from 7:58 to 9:10, and the second recording I expected to use a different tuner and record from 8:58 to 10:10. Okay, I looked at it again, and the two recordings that I am talking about were on the same channel. The recording that was scheduled on a different channel was from 9:58-11:10. That recording worked correctly, in the sense that it used a second tuner to start the recording on the different channel. So it seems that it just didn't want to do that for the two recordings on the same channel.

I would still prefer the second tuner to kick in despite being on the same channel because I run my shows through MCEBuddy and it has a tendancy to cut the last segement of the show out if the recording ends abruptly.

That makes more sense. To answer your original question, my software doesn't control this, it just makes a request of the wmc rec service. I know the normal behavior of the service is to keep using the same tuner if the channel doesn't change. Since the channel is not changing, it is giving you the padding you requested, albeit split across two recordings.

Interestingly, I am not sure if wmc has a setting for this, but I think I recall a setting in the api for 'required' padding, instead of the normal 'when possible' padding. If so, this should give you the behavior you want. I will check it when I get a chance. If it is there and it works I could make it an option in the server settings.

However if I go directly into WMC and set up a recording and then go back to XBMC the recording will be marked inside the EPG!
