Nevermind. Internet issues!

RE: CinemaVision Add-on: Create a Movie Theater Experience at Home - pcwii - 2016-04-30

So an update on my issue with playing music during trivia slides. I attempted to remove the userdata folder and that did not solve my problem. One thing I discovered is that if I play my sequence from the sequence editor the music will play during the trivia slides but when the sequence is played when I call it from the context menu it will not play. Not sure what to try next.

I have playlists on my menu for easy access. After I watch a playlist, then decide to go over and watch a movie through CV, the playlist shows up from my tv shows. I have to remove the entire playlist from the CV queue, then relaunch the movie to get it recognized.

Can I get a log from you showing this behavior? I'll run it by our developer, but I don't think there's much we can do for the queue not clearing. We might be able to put in a debug option to clear the queue.

My CV is working well with a couple of problems, I am sure my issues have come up before but am having a bit of an issue narrowing down my search in this thread.
1. When playing trivia slides I can't get music to play, I have tried, single files, directories, pls files with no audio being played all content is located on an NFS share
2. When my sequence changes and my audio receiver changes audio modes there is a delay in the audio so I miss the first second or so of audio for my bumpers

If someone can point me in the right direction on these two issues that would be great.

Can I get a debug log from you showing running the sequence both from the editor and from the context menu? They both do the exact same thing, so I'm curious why the difference in behavior.

I run Kodi on a rpi without the license for mpg2 file. So kodi can't play this file on my system. I think this file was a mp4 file before. Can you choose a more universal format for this file ?

Thx

We're actually looking for alternatives to the dummy files entirely. I'll see what we can do about changing the extension at the very least in a future release, but for now we're not going to change it and possibly break something in the stable build.

Hi,

Is there a way to completely remove You Tube support? Now that the current you tube plugin is broken, I'm constantly getting bad request errors. I don't use it, so not sure why this plugin is so reliant on it even tho I have disabled its use in Cinemavison's settings.

Thx

CinemaVision doesn't use the YouTube add-on that's broken for anything. There are two instances where CinemaVision uses content from YouTube, and neither uses broken add-ons. The first is the trailers from your Kodi library, but that's built into Kodi itself and we just call that trailer item in the Kodi database to play the stream. That scraper (Kodi DB) can be disabled entirely in the CinemaVision settings, but I don't think that will fix the issue you're seeing. The second is via a CVURL file that has an address to a YouTube video in it. That uses the YouTube-DL Control add-on which is currently not broken and supports streams for hundreds of websites, not just YouTube. If you upload a log for us to review, we might be able to help you figure out what's causing the bad request errors.

Hello,

Here is my log: http://goo.gl/vvghY0

The bad request errors show between every segment in the CV sequence. Kinda diminishes the theater experience.

thx

Hello Scott,

Thank you for your work on this add-on I installed yesterday and became a supporting member on your site. WIthin an hour of playing with it I was able to get a pretty good movie theater experience intro that I showed off to the wife today. She loved it, however the kids almost lost interested due to a long pause before the Trivia slides start.

Once the slides start everything goes pretty smooth, but there is a minute or so of black screen after the Trivia Intro video and when the Trivia Slides start.

Any suggestions ?

Hey there! Thanks for that, we're about to start round 2 of development and that really helps. I'm not sure what would be causing that. I've only ever seen it go right into trivia. Are you using it on a projector? Can I get you to upload a log for us to review after running your sequence?

I am using a projector but that doesnt seem to be it, I removed the demo curl files you had to the streaming music site and add some of my own, that seems to speed it up but now i get a short delay before the begining of my sequence starts.

I will play with it some more before posting a log, I am still using the demo sequence I just changed a few of the files that I downloaded from your site.

I will check back after the weekend to give ya an update.

Thank You !

RE: CinemaVision Add-on: Create a Movie Theater Experience at Home - aptalca - 2016-05-06

Scott, quick question. Where is the content list / database stored? Locally in the addon data folder or in the cinemavision folder?

The reason I'm asking is that I have my cinemavision folder on a samba share that all machines can access. Do I have to update the content on each machine (assuming local database) or if one updates will the others pick it up (database kept in the cinemavision folder) ?

Thanks

Well if the delay isn't a video delay from the projector switching refresh rates, and you're using streaming sources for music, I think I know what's up. I get the same behavior using most streaming sources. In researching what's going on using verbose logging, it seems that the delay is caused by the time it takes to validate and connect to the streaming source for music. When using local files, there is no delay at all. Unfortunately, since we don't control the stream, there's not much we can do about it. I looked into hosting CinemaVision internet radio stations when we were coding support, but it was just too expensive and time consuming.

I'd suggest trying local audio files (you can store them in your %CVROOT%\Music directory. I'd also encourage you to customize your preshow, because it's cool. Big Grin We really only put the demo sequence in so that the add-on would work out of the box and show folks what it could do. I'd recommend using local content if you have the space to do so, because it takes a point of failure out of the equation. We added support for streaming content primarily for users who need to save space, but want the experience (like on a Pi for example). I always recommend housing content on local or network attached storage before streaming.

The content database is currently stored in the addon data folder. We did it that way because of limitations with the Python SQLite DB module that we use to create and populate the database. The %CVROOT% folder is only accessible via Kodi VFS, which means it'd be a complicated mess to store a DB there. You risk multiple instances trying to read/write at once which can corrupt things or cause issues. If we move it, the database also won't get sucked up by any backup of the userdata directory.

I do have good news, though. We'll be writing a CinemaVision Service Add-on that will do content updates automatically on whatever schedule you set (on Kodi start, specific day/time, every X h/m) in the background. That will essentially sync all of your Kodi/CV boxes with your central repository for CV content. Big Grin

Skinnable button?! The hell you say...

You mean one where you can set the text of said button? I'm not sure if graphics are supported in context menus.

Just whatever the command (which currently is) to update content to be written into a skin button to run the update anytime you like, same as you can skin commands from other add-ons like artwork downloader.

If I knew what the command string to update the content database was now I could probably do it.

Sorry, maybe I need to clarify I do not have the delay after the opening seqence transitioning to the trivia now that I downloaded some songs and play them locally through my NAS. I do now get a delay 50% of the time when starting a movie in Cinema mode before the intro sequence starts.

I have customized your default sequence and I am happy with it while learning how to configure it, I got a lot of compliments over the weekending demo'ing to friends.
