that doesnt sound like a fair statement at all, youre part of a whole project and you shouldnt feel like its an us vs them thing

code that stands still goes stale while code it depends on gets more and more deprecated
i for one wouldnt want to have to run debian 5 just to have kodi be compatible

No, I do not think that this is the case. There is a lot of new code in Kodi bringing new capabilities. With that, there is a lot of "growing pains" but that is normal. We might have to realize that, maybe, older hardware might have a issue handling some new features of Kodi. I use 2019 Nvidia Shields and did not experienced any crushes and I mean 0 (zero) with SHS and SHW enabled and running in Martix. With Nexus (SHS and SHW enabled), Kodi crashes in 2 seconds when is started first, then starting for a second time runs fine. No crashes no "hick-ups". I read a lot here and other forums that Nexus is unusable and I understand that some of those users are using some older hardware, for instance Shield 2017. There is no question in my mind that adjustments to SHS and SHW code need to be made and, most likely, adjustments to Kodi Nexus are needed and, I am sure that they are coming. Having said that, I think that we need to provide Kodi developers more logs and work with them closely to shorten the "pain" time with Nexus.
My apology for this rant, but I felt that we might be to haste to trow Nexus and it developers "under the bridge".

@andrzejls "older hardware, for instance Shield 2017" - their is very little difference between the 2019 Shield Pro and the 2017 Shield Pro. From a raw performance perspective they are very close. Folks successfully run Kodi on Android boxes with much less performance than a 2017 Shield Pro. Their could be many reasons for the crashes using Nexus on Android but it is highly unlikely that is one of them.

@wags1, You are 100% correct. I am just trowing some suggestions. All I know is that I did not experience same issues as most of users here. I do not know why. My setup is not much different than other people so I question. I am retired mechanical design engineer so in my nature is to ask. BTW, I have and had same experience, as I described in my previous post, with 1 (one) Firestick 4K. I also did use X96 Android 11 64 bit box and it worked flawlessly with Kodi Leia and Martrix. So, as I said, I do not really know.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - wags1 - 2023-02-06

@andrzejls No worries, I understand. We are all trying to figure out what is going on with these Nexus crashes for sure. Since I moved back to Matrix on both my Shields now I'm just going to wait for it to be all sorted out.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - Nickerw - 2023-02-08

Again a problem: When scrolling in right list view through my video library Kodi freezes. I tried several times. Then I changed to Estuary and it works ?!?

Klaus
P.S. The music library got no problems when scrolling...

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - Stelle artois - 2023-02-08

Tanks for the great work!
Feature request
1.    On the favourites menu on the home screen add fan art to the background instead of a stretched poster.
2.    On shelf 3D view could the focus be on the 5th movie along so there is no blank screen to the left ( the same as Aeon MQ8 Tajo)
Also is there any way to extract the media cases from Aeon MQ8 Tajo as I prefer them.

Thanks

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - andrzejls - 2023-02-08

@latts9923 I am on Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 running Kodi Nexus with SHS, SHW and Metadata (all 1.20.0 versions) installed and enabled. All is fine and no crashes with one exception. I installed "Library Editor v3.0" and ti runs great, but after a day or so it just uninstalls itself, so I have to reinstall it again. It is kind of strange. Could you look into what possibly be happening?.
Thanks

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - andrzejls - 2023-02-08

@latts9923 I use NFS for my Movies, TV Shows, Concerts and Music. While Kodi NFS Service isn set to NFS version 3 all is fine, the moment I change to NFS version 4 I can see in Views all Movies< TV Shows, Concerts and Music Posters but Path is not recognized co I cannot play anything. My NAS server is running Openmediavault 6 on Debian and NFS 4 is enabled. Do  you have any idea as to why NFS3 on Kodi works but not NFS4?.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - Nickerw - 2023-02-08

Addition: I tried this with my notebook testversion (Nexus + latts mod) exactly the same.
Downgraded to Matrix (latts nexus and later matrix mod). NO Problem?!?
Both with skinhelper activated.

Klaus
P.S. Just downgraded to Matrix, everything's working well.
Goodbye Nexus for a while

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - melons2 - 2023-02-08

Can anyone tell me and suggest how to fix this:
I have each movie in its own folder, c:\movies\help! (1965)\.....etc
Each folder contains art, fanart, and a single movie file: *.mkv or *.avi, etc.
I recently added a movie under this condition:
c:\movies\help! (1965)\ts_video\.....  it counted it as 2 movies.
I tried taking the contents of ts_video and putting them in the root c:\movies\help! (1965)..........
It still counts it as 2 movies.
Can I fix this?

If excluding video files from your library, while scanning your video folder(s), is want you want to achieve, than you need an advancedsettings.xml file to do so.

Crash on Android - musv - 2023-02-08

Hi there,

I've been using Aeon MQ8 with Kodi 19 for quite a long time on my Nvidia Shield TV. Some weeks ago the Android app was updated to Kodi 20. So I started with a fresh clean install (deleted /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi).

According to the instructions I installed skin.helper.service vom Marcel Veldts Repo. The skins installs fine. But when this Addon is installed Kodi crashes directly at startup. If I remove the Skin Helper Service I can start Kodi again. I activated the debug log. But there's nothing suspect to find there. The full log can be seen here.

The last lines:

Code:
2023-02-08 18:29:31.119 T:31876   debug <general>: Python interpreter stopped

2023-02-08 18:29:31.371 T:31939   debug <general>: Skin Helper Service --> ListItemMonitor - started
2023-02-08 18:29:31.372 T:31828    info <general>: Skin Helper Service --> Skin Helper Service version 1.1.43 started

Is there somewhere a fixed version of the Skin Helper? Or how can I fix this problem? I have direct access via adb shell to the file system and can edit the files via Termux.

You need version 1.20.0

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Nexus - latts9923 - 2023-02-09

@Nickerw
Are you using the Nvidia Shield?

@Stelle artois
I don't see a stretched poster for the background while browsing Favourites. Can you provide a screenshot?

I'll take a look at Shelf 3D from Aeon MQ 8 Tajo to see what you're talking about. You can extract images from Textures.xbt with the Kodi Texture Tool.

@andrzejls
That is odd...I haven't had any problems with the Library Editor script removing itself.

I'm not sure about your NFS problem. You might ask in the General Support area of the forum.
