I looked over several pages of this thread, but did not find a solution. Hopefully someone else has experienced this and can help out. Thanks!
Have you supplied credentials for the Recorded TV share in ServerWMC folders tab? Even with a Windows share shared with "Everyone" you need credentials for non Windows clients, use a user:pass that can log in to the share machine

RE: WMC as the backend - released - spinnaker - 2013-11-02

I just started watching live tv for the first time with xbmc and the new wmc addon. . I was getting a lot of pauses in video and sound. I noticed the message :buffering" in the upper right hand corner of xbmc.

I switched back to the wmc client to view tv. It would not play right away. I got the error "Video files are missing or corrupted. please restart media center or computer".

Restarting WMC did not help. I had to restart the computer. Once restarted, WMC played live tv fine.

I am getting my signal ota on a Haudpauge dual tuner card.

I am going to retract the pausing issue for now. I was watching in WMC and it seems to be happening there too, so must be a reception issue. I will test the switching to the WMC client issue later and post back.

I set this up, still no video or sound on client machines. ServerWMC shows the client is online and streaming whatever channel I pick from the EPG. This is also happening on a extra Win7 box I have on my network that I setup to see if the problem was only on the ATV1 clients.

Grab a server log and xbmc debug log and pastebin them somewhere with links here

Never mind, restarted server and all was well...

RE: WMC as the backend - released - aelvion - 2013-11-03

I have a slightly different Channel Icon issue.
Firstly, I do NOT have the icons in WMC setup, but I went into the confluence LIVETV menu and added an icon for each channel manually by browsing to the local drive and selecting it.

The Icons show fine until the machine is rebooted, then they get wiped out.
Also, I tried placing them in
\\familyroom\Recorded TV\TempXBMC\imageCache\channelIcons with no luck

Nevermind... Set static directory for icons and all is well

ServerWMC is running on Win 8
I have clients on a Win 7 machine. Client 1 is on XBMC Frodo 12.2. Client 2 is on XBMC Gotham 13A8. Both XBMC are running in portable mode and as far as I can tell I have both setup identically.

Hi Scott. When I first started playing with gotham I think I recall getting something similar with the alpha builds. So I downloaded a nightly, in my case it was :
XBMCSetup-20131024-135ae34-master.exe

and live-tv and wtv worked fine. Also looking at your logs, everything appears to be happening the way it is supposed to in the server. Before I spend time on this (I actaully have to help my son's friend with a system build today), can you try this nightly with the newest gotham client and let me know if it works?

(2013-11-02, 01:50)spinnaker Wrote: One alternative to the hierarchy issue is to just convert the wtv files to mp4 (or whatever format) using MCE Buddy. I just installed 2.0 and it works great. Removes commercials and names files with season and episode number for import into your xbmc library. I already converted a bunch of files and so far it is working great.

Cool. Dude, you got my hopes up though, I was hoping you were volunteering to get this sorted out in the server code Smile. If you ever decide you want to try, I can tell you exactly where to look in the code and tell you what I know about it. Also if the email thing bothers you, an alternative is your bitbucket account name in order for you to get access.

(2013-11-02, 05:14)TechLife Wrote: Hey kr-

An interesting issue that may or may not be related to the database issue we were discussing just popped up. When I select LiveTV, XBMC crashes entirely. I did pull the logs so you could see them and see if it makes any sense to you. I'm sure I can get it fixed so it's not a big deal. I may still have something disabled so the guide isn't properly downloading. Just wanted to throw it out there FWIW:

XBMC Log
ServerWMC Log

That's too bad, especially since the server log doesn't even show a crash - it just stops. Let me know if you can't sort it out.

Sorry about that. Start the server, after a failed attempt at a live stream, post the server log to pastebin.com and post a link to it here.

Here is the ticket:

There hasn't been an update from them since that last comment about dts. They are not contacting me independently, so this is all I know. I am hopeful they will fix this, or tell me what to fix at least. Just have to be patient (I hate being patient).

Great. Can you explain more? I have only focused on importing icons from wmc, so I kind of assumed xbmc's way of doing icons might not work. So please explain your fix in a little more detail so we know what to tell others.

Aaahhhhh, would this be why I can't get Irish Saorview (HD FTA channels) working properly in XBMC on my new windows box. Confused Been tearing my hair out (the little I have left) messing with XBMC Video & Audio settings.....

Hi Krusty...
Greetings from the parking lot at hotel 6

I was wondering, since I don't get automatic updates to the sd card, how will I know when it is time to get another significant update?
Also, is there a way to download add-on with a windows machine, then somehow upload them onto the pi?

Everything is working fine. Appreciate all the help you gave me to get to this point. It's not easy being internet challenged... lol

Tony

So I've been moving stuff all around and wound up setting up a little Windows box to be a TV server today. Fresh install, nice and clean. Setup WMC but didn't manually download guide data. (Apparently it didn't do it automatically as part of the setup process.) Switched my clients over to the new server address and had the exact same behavior. I checked SWMC and sure enough, 'EPG entries' was a big, fat zero. I manually downloaded the guide data, closed and reopened SWMC (just to be safe), opened XBMC on a client again and it worked just as it should. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know how I make out but I think I have pretty much confirmed that if you run out of guide data this is what happens.

A unrelated observation: On my HTPC, I had plugged in a USB drive to use for my recorded TV folder. Quick and dirty fix when I originally set this up as I only had a 64GB SSD in there for a system drive. When I built the new box to serve as a TV server today, I stuck a spare 1TB spinner I had laying around IN the box on SATA for a recorded TV repository. *Everything* seems much faster and smoother on all of my clients now...could just be in my head, but there it is for what it's worth. (I haven't tested with the Pi yet but I'll post another note if I see any difference there.)

RE: WMC as the backend - released - locoguano - 2013-11-04

Getting "buffering" pauses every 5 seconds or so. XBMC and WMC are on the same PC, so its not a network issue. My PC isn't the most heavy-weight (core2duo 3.0ghz) which is plenty to play HD and such. Could this be the problem?

Hoops had a similar problem to to this, he fixed it by putting the recording tv directory on a dedicated disk - like techlife. Its worth the experiment if you have a drive lying around.

Hanging around the parking lot of a motel 6 sounds like a place where you'd attract the attention of cops..

Sorry I can't help with the pi stuff, I am still pi challenged - mine is still in its box. I'll get to it one of these days. Dilligaf should be able to help, hopefully he'll see this.
