First, I really appreciate the last comment you shared here in the forum. I am a huge fan of your skins and I’m carefully watching the updates on your github. I admit that I went back to a different skin than AZ2 and it was with all my regrets. I remember almost a year ago the speed and the fluidity of Arctic Zephyr and I was sad to Lose it with all the additions you made in the last year..

I think that you are very generous and you try to integrate a lot of requests to make people happy :p

But I believe that what makes your skins unique is basically due to the first vision of it when you share it at the beginning. i am pretty sure that’s why we are so many people to follow your work  and use your skins on a regular basis.

There is a difference between addressing a bug and asking for a new feature. The decision to make changes belong ONLY to you.

Like I said, I find myself really lucky to freely having access to your work and what I saw from Artic Horizon seems to be amazing. A huge thanks for that.

I am very excited to soon use Arctic Horizon and I hope that you understand that all I am trying to say (I usually speak French as you may notice) is that we are a lot who thinks that too many functions can kill the smoothness of the skin.

A+

e.g. if you create a TV widget for next episodes etc and watch one from the widget, when playback completes it will return to the homescreen and focus on the next main menu item (e.g addons or whatever). This behavior makes sense when viewing from within a s menu (e.g episode list) as you want it to highlight the next episode upon completion.

I'm not sure if it is possible to achieve this as I don't think Kodi out of the box with default skin is designed for widgets in this way.

I'm having trouble following what you're saying. What do you mean by "jump to next category"? You want the home screen to go to the next main menu item (e.g. switch from Movies to TvShows) after completing playback? That seems like very odd behaviour...

Look into the "Up Next" add-on.

EDIT: @jurialmunkey, will that one get the AH treatment?

Yeah I would like to have it integrated. The problem is that it seems to require reskinning fairly often due to changes in it's functionality, which is really frustrating because it really shouldn't be something that I have to redo over and over again.

No, the odd behaviour is what currently happens (on every skin I've tried). I'm wondering if it's possible to remain on the same main menu item after completion of playback after playing from a homescreen widget.

E.G if my main menu structure is Movies, TV Shows, Addons, Settings. If I play a movie from a homescreen widget, on completion of playback, the focus will be on TV Shows.

Yes, I understand completely! And thanks for the kind words. Big Grin

What you've said pretty much sums up many of my own frustrations with AZ2. I made far too many concessions which caused the skin to lose its character and fluidity. It's a real shame because I look back at some of my early development screenshots of AZ2 and I find myself really wishing I could go back to the simplicity of some of those earlier ideas.

Yeah, that doesn't happen to me. I've never experienced that behaviour and it definitely isn't baked into Kodi.
Whenever I play something, when it finishes I return to the exact same item I pressed play on.

Maybe you need to do a clean install.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I am using a vertical home menu. I think (will have to check) when I use a horizontal menu it works as expected. I think the default behaviour after playing an item is to move 'down' to the next item in the list, hence it selects the next main menu item if I'm starting playback from a homescreen widget on a vertical layout.

Anyway, I won't clog up this thread with a non skin related issue. As per what you and other have said, I totally agree with your approach to the development of Horizon and what I've seen so far is fantastic. KUTGW!

I actually understand what you're saying now, and I can confirm I have this exact same behavior. Using "Vertical Menu | Multiple Widgets", after playback finishes on an item I played from a widget, focus is returned to the corresponding main menu item, exactly as you've described.

I'm actually about to start an episode, so I went into the season view so I can confirm whether or not the described behavior is the same there.

EDIT: I can't say if this happened in original AZ, but it does happen to me in AZ2.

EDIT: I botched the experiment Rofl I'll try again later.

RE: Arctic Horizon - drinfernoo - 2020-03-04

You know, looking at it... I take it background blur is the default?

Also, when scrolling homescreen widgets vertically, do the shortcuts in the upper-left stay as a header, or they more of a "category shortcut"?

I don't think anybody's asked this yet either... but are there hubs?

But it doesn't move down does it? e.g. If you're on movies mainmenu and play a movie from the widget it doesn't change to tvshows mainmenu after playback ends? Because that's what Ricks is describing.

Yeah Blur is default if colorbox is installed. Background style can be switched to the Aura style Overlay in Skin Settings.

Originally the icon shortcuts were fixed throughout the skin. However, I'm not certain yet if the icon shortcuts are going to stay or not...

If I can get the scrolling working properly between widget pages then I will need headings in the top left instead to indicate which section you're in (i.e. press down from last movies widget will take you to the first widget of tvshows - or whatever your next main menu item is). I've got it working ondown but for some reason I can't get onup to work properly and I'm not really sure why. If I can get it working onup then the shortcut icons will have to go because being able to scroll through the widget pages is a far better feature.

Yes, of course there are hubs:

It's easy to recreate as you can stop playback manually. Like this :
