RE: Aeon MQ 9 Multi-Mod for Kodi 20 (Nexus) - Karny - 2024-11-27

To add to my issue, I saved my settings, reset the theme, then import my settings. I still have the same problem. I would also note that the new "widget - item size" is blank. Which is probably related?

@Karny
Hmm...I am so far unable to reproduce any of the problems with widgets that you are describing. It sounds like a file may have been corrupted when you installed the latest update. You could try downloading the skin, copy all the files manually and see if that resolves your problem.

@Genuine3000
You're welcome!

@latts9923 Thank you for looking into it! I will try and do more testing when I get some time. Will let you know if I find anything.

RE: Aeon MQ 9 Multi-Mod for Kodi 20 (Nexus) - Karny - 2024-11-27

Well, if I was to guess, I think what happened is when it auto updated from your repository. It didn't populate the value for 'widgets_size' (unproven theory)...

I think this because after rebuilding from a previous update (my previous comment), I didn't take a back up of my config. I did after the most recent update. When I look at the config export it isn't populated with a widgets_size (it's a blank string). I was able to put in 100 and re-import the config and now they show!

Note that I had this on 2 instances of Kodi, so I sincerely doubt this is "file corruption" issue (also I very recently rebuilt everything from scratch on both machines). I don't know enough about the theme and config to really comment with any confidence. However, I would imagine this is reproducible through some steps like load a previous version, maybe make some config changes, then update to the latest. The problem should then be prevalent and is not fixable by saving and importing your config (at least after the update?), as when you restore the config it overwrites the bad/missing config. Again, I am guessing from my limited experience.

Finally, I just realized I am posting in the wrong thread again! I am using v1.4.4 and Kodi 21 (not 20) >< Sorry for posting in the wrong thread!

As always thank you for your efforts and maintenance of this theme!

@Karny
If you create a backup, then reset the skin and restore your backup that should bring back your old settings and keep any new settings intact. I will test this again on my end and verify.

@latts9923

 How do I change Music view from files to the other option so that forced views work in music?

Thank you!

@melons2
I'm not sure what you're asking. You can switch between views in the Files view, but you can't assign a forced view for Files.

RE: Aeon MQ 9 Multi-Mod for Kodi 20 (Nexus) - Karny - 2024-11-29

@latts9923 I hope this helps... let me clarify.

I created a back up *after* the update. Reset the theme. Restored the back up. The problem persisted. I did this several times. I can edit the backup file and see the entry for widgets_size with a blank string "". I don't know how to actually check the values in Kodi, I assume it's in the database somewhere.

After a theme reset, I presume the setting is ok and set to 100 or whatever. But once I restore my settings from the backup. It resets the value to an invalid blank string "". The only way I could get this fixed was to manually edit the config backup file and put a proper value (100).

Presumably if I had a back up prior to the update, and the new config. A theme reset would have set the value. A restore would not have overwrote it, because it didn't exist in the backup from the previous version.

Again, this is from my limited experience and testing.

I would imagine a couple ways to fix this.:
1 - Have better handling of a blank string and use a default value for invalid input (robustness). Probably on the config screen and wherever it is used to display.
2 - On update have a mechanism to add the new configs and there "default" values (or maybe even check values are correct). A reset seems to only work in certain scenarios.
3 - A combination of the above or something else.

Thank you so much for looking into this and maintaining this theme! Feel free to ignore any of the above if this doesn't make sense. :-)

@Karny
Thanks for clarifying your problem. I was able to reproduce this on my end as well. This problem only occurs when new settings are added to the skin and a reset is required to enter a value for that setting. If you install the update and then create a backup, you will end up with an empty value in your backup file. The only way to avoid this is to backup the skin before the update is installed...or do what you did...manually add the value to your backup file. Also, as you stated, you could restore a previous backup that does not contain the new setting after performing a skin reset. I wish there was an easier solution, but I don't know any other way around it.

Hi All - I am not 'officially' back, yet, but I've been keeping up with updates and ran into a question. The Yahoo weather addon has been depreciated and so I've had to explorer alternatives to that.  I currently have the NOAA Addon installed. In the lower right corner of the main menu as (d) and (n)... I just want the 5 day forecast...not a 2.5 day and night forecast....does anyone know if there is a way to change this? Is this a skin thing or a plugin thing? My thought is that it's more of a weather plugin thing, but I'm starting here first.

Actually, multi-weather still works and if you don't want to use it, Open-Meteo weather addon is all but identical in this mod!
I have tried and could never get the NOAA Addon to quite work right.........

Good luck

RE: Aeon MQ 9 Multi-Mod for Kodi 20 (Nexus) - Shredder_guitar - 2024-11-30

Thanks, I knew it still worked, but it was registered in addon's as depreciated so I removed it simply based on that to 'ideally' achieve a good posture. Noaa works, but Not digging the Day and night temps... I just want the temp for the day...looking at the full weather screen, seems this is just how Noaa functions... so I've got more looking to do...this wouldn't have anything to do with the skin. So apologies for the bother on this one. I checked out Gismeteo, the closest city is 30 min away and I want something a bit more accurate than that. There's the Home assistant weather option...but In typical home assistant fashion, the setup is the equivalent to trudging through an african rainforest jungle, not worth the effort just to get the weather. Met office and oz weather is for the other side of the globe. Super-Meteo was really close, but it still displays the temp for day and night and I don't want that.

*update* Well, I tried every single weather plugin in existence that i was able to find...the absolute only one that works like i would expect it to, is the Multi-weather add-on that is now labeled as broken. Seems in another thread they are trying to make a super-weather addon. Seems like a good idea as long as it provides a 5 day forecast. Seems for now I am stuck with an addon that is labeled as broken and let it just be what it is.

Just this in the bottom right corner is what I'm after, the main weather screen can display all the info it wants, but this widget is what I look at most of the time...

on another note, Seems WEBDL cases are not displaying again, just a gray case. @latts9923 can you fix this again?
