RE: CCM for Helix - hyp0xia - 2015-06-20

Hi all,

Is it possible to reorder your menu items (home menu, submenu, addon shortcuts, etc.) after you've set them?

Say I wanted to move an item left or right on the menu.. the only way I can achieve this is to delete everything and re-add them in the order I want.

Any insights appreciated Wink

Pretty much that (delete and redo). Or edit guisettings.xml when kodi's not running.

RE: CCM for Helix - hyp0xia - 2015-06-20

Yeah figured as much. Thanks for the info and quick response.

If the guisettings.xml gets edited after-the-fact. Will it have any negative consequences when editing the skin back in Kodi?

Not sure I understand you. If kodi's not running then you can make changes with a text editor. Backup the original (guisettingsold.xml or similar) just in case. Changes made to the .xml are reflected in the gui when you re-start kodi.

RE: CCM for Helix - hyp0xia - 2015-06-20

That was exactly it. Whether or not there would be a conflict after manually editing the xml file and then going back into the kodi gui to make more edits. Looks like we're all good.

Thanks again for the info.

I see what you mean. When kodi starts it loads guisettings.xml - what you see in the gui is based on the contents of that file. Make changes in that file and the gui changes next time you start kodi - make changes via the gui and they're written to guisettings.xml when kodi shuts down.
So the worst that can happen if you've changed it with a text editor and cocked something up is that the file doesn't load and you'll end up with default settings. Hence the backup.

Edit: in other words they're both the same thing. You can change one when kodi's running and t'other (the xml) only when kodi's stopped.

Well put. Thanks for the clarification. I'll be sure to make those backups before each edit (just in case).

Much thanks.

Anyone know of a way to vertically center the fonts in the main menu?

I changed out the default font over to Bebas Neue but the new font seems to hug the upper edge of the main menu.

Wondering if there's a way to add some margin or padding in there to help center it out a bit. I checked out http://kodi.wiki/view/Fonts but nothing there seemed to help.

I see mudislander isn't around the forum any more, and isn't updating the skin any more.

I'm wondering about trying Kodi 15 rc1 - does anyone know if CCM Helix is working OK on Kodi 15? Any thoughts on which alternative skin to switch to if mudislander doesn't bring out Helix for Isengard?

I don't know anything. Just reading the tea-leaves as his last post on this thread was 3 April - and many unanswered questions since :-( I hope he comes back too.

Are any of those using TVHeadend or OpenELEC?
