hi Primaeval

As i mentioned in my post, i get the same problem with OSMC (16.1 based)

not near my device at the moment so cannot get a log

thanks

Did it get better with 0.0.313?
quick test on rpi2 (latest nightly libreelec Milhouse build) with 0.0.313 and at first glance issue seems to be gone. Thanks very much for quick response.

Hello guys,

for me the popup "parsing xmltv" not going away and stand in front of any skin after parsing. Could this be fixed ?

If it doesn't go away it hasn't finished properly for some reason.
Have a look in the log for an error message. Send me a link if there is something.
Sometimes there are characters in the files that won't parse properly or there is a network error.
You'll have to restart Kodi to make the message box go away.

If it always goes away when it is finished then everything is fine.

No no Mister, Sorry for misunderstandings. If its fetching the xml file by startup background service at the end, I see the new guide data but popup stays always on top. Use SPMC and try to reproduce that error with enabled debugging log....not that easy. For background fetch need to wait few days

There might be a problem if you try to load the guide when the background update is going on.
I spent a lot of time trying to fix that but it might not always work.
The background service and guide are both fighting for control of the database.
If you see an error message in the log let me know.

Okay this last fetch did it for me and freezes the popup again.

There are some errors in there about the database being locked.
That happens when you try to open the guide when the background update is going on.
Code:
DEBUG: [script.tvguide.fullscreen] Database is locked, retrying...

Send me a link to your xmltv file.
You can delete the previous link.
Sometimes there can be sensitive data in logs. It's safer to pm me with the link.

Hello, in this log file I fetched it in front but background service was enabled. To force it to parse new xml file while debug logging was enabled, I copied an few days older backup of my addondata folder. So this freeze is after foreground parsing. Try it with Android devices. I never saw this on win32/64 devices.

here the source http://www.vuplus-community.net/rytec/rytecxmltvGermany.gz

Thank you Mister.

Thank you Mister.

I just tried it on Win7 32bit Jarvis and Nvidia Shield Android Jarvis and it loaded ok for me.

It is a big xmltv file though: 36Mb uncompressed.

Do you think you were just unlucky or does it happen to you every time?

Unlucky Smile On Android devices 90%. Tried yesterday my Win10 Kodi and it is running well there.

If it happens consistently on Android in the future let me know.

I had to wait about 4 minutes for it to load on the Nvidia Shield.
If you are using a lower spec device you might have to wait much longer after startup to enter the guide.

If you don't need all those channels I would recommend making your own custom xmltv file with Webgrab+Plus.
